While I was in Hong Kong, My friends (4 white people) and I got plenty of stares and goggles of amusement. I think I got the most as I stood out obviously. While at Victoria's Peak, an Asian family randomly asked me to take a picture with his family. It was funny as he didn't speak English.

    More stories later. ;)

You, my friend, I highly suspected that you have good time in Hong Kong. Any hot chinese chicks hit on you??? lol

Although, I plan on to visit some certain region of China. To be honest with you, I'm very jealous that you get your chance to go to Hong Kong while I'm sitting here do nothing! Mostly, I'm working on my project, that's pain in the ass! I hope you go back there more often!

Ask and you shall receive -

There is only one company I would even consider going on an actual tour with, I am just not sure I would get my money's worth and Visa issues continue to dog me. It is not an inexpensive venture, at min you'll be spending at least $3,000 and that's if you get everything right the first time.

If you went alone and since there's no visa issues getting into Ukraine we'll use that -

    Charlotte to Kiev: $971 R/T
Nice Apartment in Kiev (Internet, Sat TV, etc) - $70 per night
If you want to slum it - $22-30US in a Hostel

From there you can go to one of the many Marriage Agencies, this one is only one trusted by the anti-scam sites in town. Its also constantly updated a "+" in my book.

Making contact before you go? Use Lucky Lovers, others are out there but I found Larissa, Olga and Tatiana that way - and its only $19 a month.

The safety issue is overblown I can't keep saying it. You can either believe me somebody that's actually been to Ukraine. You can believe Mach, Byrant, Rasta or Malik True.

I was out in dark part of the city after getting off at the wrong subway terminal. It was after 10pm, there weren't many people out. I walked roughly a mile or two trying to find my way. I finally decided to call for a taxi. Lucky for me I had the number of taxi service on me and a fresh SIM card in my unlocked Motorola. At first I got the dispatcher that didn't speak English, but he told me to hold and put one on that did. I got to where I needed to go, no problem.

Now if your out in Sumy or some other small city/village (my homie Telos loves chasing village girls), you won't be so lucky but since I was in a major city it was a non-issue, the key is not to panic.

The tours are well organized and very controlled. You are left to your own devices maybe a few hours everyday, but that's on purpose so you can troll through a mountain of catalogs or maybe ask for a woman you met at one of the socials to go out for lunch/dinner/sight-seeing. You're constantly on the move however, I think your only in one area for roughly 3-4 days and each tour last roughly 8-11 days.

Like I said IF your lucky and you get it done in ONE tour/Trip, if your a nice guy you'll go back to Ukraine, Russia whatever so you can be with her while she goes to her K-1 Interview process (another $900+) and pay for it ($250+) and then wait 6 months for the red tape to process itself.

See how close we're getting to $3,000? Those are the lucky ones; the guys that have problems with trust, self-esteem issues, aren't good judges of people or aren't sure what they want will spent anywhere from $10,000-$15,000 and still come up empty.

So I will tell you now -

You can find marriage minded women in America, if that's your goal and I am fairly sure that's everybody's goal here so we can all agree on that.

However the cards are stacked against you and I shouldn't have to spell that out, its a very mainstream discussion with fingers pointing in every direction.

I can only speak for myself and say I would like to build something together with my future wife and since most American women over 30 (which would be my age bracket) have preconceived ideals on what a relationship should be like, it rubs against traditional values (husband, kids come first, career secondary).

I am not going to preach to the choir here. It would cost me roughly the same amount to integrate myself into a ready made family, reconfigure my spending priorities and reset my personal and family goals because they may not completely match. That includes spending untold thousands while I find that woman, while others stare at my shoes/clothes/watch trying to figure out how much money I make :( and clown me for living at home.

I spent about $5,000 going to Europe in 2007, had a great time and would do it again (a bit differently) but my 1st goal was to connect with somebody. The only person that truly believed in me had 2 boys from a previous relationship and I felt I didn't want that, it just seemed like too much trouble, potential problems with the boys, disagreements with parenting, etc, having been a product of step parenting I know what's up and what's possible, it wasn't always smooth sailing (it never is, but that's one less problem to deal with).

Shallowness came into play as well and I zigged when I more than likely should have zagged and the whole thing blew up in my face, I should have recorded that phone call - :smt084 though it was mostly one-sided -

Was it my goal to meet somebody to confirm what I spent hours and hours online and the phone talking about only to pick the wrong woman and the jilted woman wanted nothing to do with me afterwords?

How come all the women I met online and visited (3 out of 5) ALL HAD CHILDREN, all were at least 27 years old? How come the ONE woman I knew that didn't have children (and was younger, 25) invited me to meet her in Turkey (Russian) and I didn't (I could have)?

What I want is a younger, attractive, thin woman with NO CHILDREN but is ready, willing and able too.

    • US/UK/CA less likely
    • EU/Visa Free/Visa Req Zones more than likely
    • South America more than likely

Was I concerned about the sigma attached to marrying a Slavic woman? Should I have met her anyway my job wasn't on the line then?

Why is there a sigma? You should hear what some women say about Russian/Ukrainian/Slavic women and you thought European Women where more open minded??? Many women in Western Culture vilify the women and the process (it is a process, America is obsessed with Russia as a military power) so any State formerly connected with the USSR is treated 2nd rate largely but for the countries now in the EU.

I see why some Western Women want to talk trash about Slavic women because very seldom do these women walk out of the house without makeup, nice hair done and like to wear dresses. They eventually learn its okay to dress down a bit but they still hold themselves to a high standard. Considering how most Western women look when doing mundane task in America, I can see how an interloper can draw your man/husband's attention away in public, the green monster comes out.

Like I said, I don't like the idea I should be established already before a decent (attractive) women wants become involved with me. There's a distinct difference between a looser with no drive or desire and a person that would like to build something with shared responsibility which means (I believe) that shared responsibility will curb any nonsense and one that isn't familiar with ills of Western Culture would be I think ideal.

Besides look how many marriages fail when both people have college educations and good careers... The shit just doesn't matter, American Culture is flawed beyond belief.

I say Europeans in general are ideal because they have solitary on many social issues and struggle with others. You can see in the UK, Germany and France (the richest countries) there's a willingness to punish the banks for their behavior in this economy, Invest Heavily In Infrastructure, all have some form of Universal Health Care and Low Cost higher education. They don't punish you not having the right connection, the right family friends, being a different color/religion, being born to the right parents. Those things might make a difference between you being born rich or not, but they (the rich) don't get much more preferential treatment that Joe/Jane Blow does.

This crisis has highlighted the deep cultural and social problems in this country and how the Status Que will fight tooth and nail to keep itself in place and relevant. That's why I am moving closer to the Muslim belief in no debt or carrying very little debt (Western Europe) and working to improve lives (installing solar power and other renewable energies), buying quality food, products with good self lives, removing myself from traditional banking and buying based on need and less on desire.

This new reality requires none traditional thinking on all fronts including where my future wife comes from.

My ex-manager is from China and knows HK well (he returns every couple of years), I got some great insight and I'll be going one of these days, I just believe finding my wife is a bit more important now otherwise its affordable (to a degree) once you get there.

    NCBradin -

What's more important? Your project? or traveling internationally? What if you met somebody during your travels that could help you with your project?

Did you know technology allows to work virtually anywhere?

    What are you priorities?

Sounds to me like your typical a American where material desires override other desires, embrace of American gun culture/violence and let American Women dictate how you should live your life.

And where has it gotten you? Or you aren't trying hard enough which would drive Barbara Ehrenreich up the wall.

I had this thing planned for months. I lucked out by the skin of my teeth as I'm able to use benefits I get with my job. I also bit the bullet on a few things since this was the once in a lifetime chance. I'll be going back someday, as well as Tokyo (as my layovers were there and the airport does it no justice).

No Chinese girls hit on me, but there are plenty of beauties. Is there a coincidence when Blacks and Asians have daughters, they're gorgeous for the most part.

well im sure that had absolutely nothing to do with white people dropping atom bombs on their country, genetically scarring families for generations on end.

I was in Hong Kong and Macau last November, man.

When were you there? How long did you stay?

Japan is another place I've always wanted to visit ever since I can remember. I'm getting there this year.

My one regret in life is that I was not able to visit Hong Kong before it was handed back to Red Rule from the British Crown in 1997.

Many things have obviously changed since then.

To make a long story short, I have a feeling that...in time...there's gonna be incidents & such in H.K. similar to Tianamen Square.

    Just my tuppence, m8's....

Why do you think that? Mainland China has taken a hands-off approach to HK since it's a money engine. It's 13 years and counting and no incidents. They have a lot of freedoms that Beijing lacks. I'm not super-educated on the subject though, enlighten me.

Mainland China *has*, in recent days, closely monitored all of the memorials/commemorations for the Tianamen Square protesters that are now deceased. And H.K. *was* admonished by Mainland about *not* letting things get "too out of hand"......

If you know what I mean....................................

As a Black guy, I would NOT be caught DEAD in Russia period. Go to Poland instead. I've met a few Polish ladies in my day and I would pick a Polish woman over a Russian woman any day.
