Stop Male-Bashing in the Media

Television commercials routinely portray males, especially white ones, as the butt end of jokes. One common scenario is the portrayal of the single guy pathetically striking out with women.

At least Bimbos and Mr. Bojangles were negative stereotypes that had some redeeming qualities. The white males depicted on today's television commercials are given absolutely no positive qualities, except that they evoke humor in the form of being laughably stupid, spastic, slovenly and socially inappropriate.

Whoever writes the copy for these commercials has gone beyond empowering women and minorities and has reached the level of male-bashing. They are in violation of laws governing discrimination and should be warned to cease and desist. If they persist, they and their employers should be fined and prosecuted.

 

Hmm......I do however find the male bashing in the media slanted with venomousness anecdotes and destructive to the collective society, as it depicts men in general as all kinds undesirables; but, they are touting it's only in the form against white men. I have been back and forth many times with this issue and couldn't possibly support such a one sided issue. Isn't along the same thought patterns as misandrist feminism? :? History tends to repeat itself, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Being portrayed as the degenerate beast isn't any better than being portrayed laughably stupid and stoic.

 

Well.............that is exactly my point with Bell Hooks and Martin Heidegger. They latch onto those with tentative conviction about a particular subject matter and run on nothing but emotional bents.

 

The media is STILL becoming overly feminized, as I've stated before in an old discussion, and anyone who believes that only white American males are being 'bashed' is only tooting their own horn.

 

Well, white men become dumbstruck when you tell them that the media doesn't favour BM either. WM believe, women in general, find it attractive to be portrayed as the primitive, unevolved savages, but refuse to engage the opposite side of this extreme: it doesn't help our long term relationships with women or develop other bonds with them.
