Before the opening of Euro 2012 there had been much debate about wheter or not Poland and Ukranie should have been awarded to host the event. There were many who cited the overt racism displayed in the stands in games in each country as the main reason.

Ahead of event some players had gone as far as to have their families not even make the trip to the event, Theo Walcott english striker most notable. Mario Balotelli has gone so far as to say if subjected to such taunts he would walk off the pitch, his manager said he and the rest of the team are behind him if such events transpired.

A day before Euro 2012 was set to begin, while training in Krakow the dutch held an open session while at one end of the pitch a group of about 200 began to direct monkey chants towards the black dutch players. The captain of the team Mark Van Bommel upon hear these chants gathered up the whole team and moved them to the other end of the stadium. When asked about it later Van Bommel said it was a real disgrace. All this occured the day after the team visited the site of the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz.

UEFA later confirmed the incident happened and are blaming it on protestors.

A senior UEFA official had told AFP on Thursday that a small group of protesters targeted the Dutch team's training ground in Krakow on Wednesday and were unhappy at Krakow not being one of the four Polish host cities chosen for the tournament.

That being said, what's the solution to such a problem?

Not just happening to the black dutch, UEFA is investing the Russian fans now for hurling some comments at the Black Czech player during their game.

Officials from campaign group Football Against Racism in Europe claimed Gebre Selassie was subjected to racist insults as he went to take a corner during his side’s 4-1 defeat by Russia in the Polish city of Wroclaw on Friday.

“Our observer reported descriptions of that nature and it was directed at the Czech Republic’s only black player,” Fare executive director Piara Powar said. “We are trying to get evidence, but it’s not always possible to capture it on film.”

Powar also confirmed a section of fans displayed a far-right “Russian Empire” flag during the game, which was further marred by clashes between Russia fans and stadium officials. Four stewards were taken to hospital.

Italy and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has also been subjected to racist abuse, after Italian neo-Nazis attacked his midweek visit to Auschwitz.

The organisation racist site – which is linked to the Klu Kux Klan – abused Balotelli by stating “you are black, Jewish and you should play for Israel” on their website.

To add a little more to the situation people with camera phone caught russian fans attacking and beating up the stewards of the stadium the injures were enough to send them to the hospital. The video can actually been found on youtube.

These international sports are ridiculous. God damn shame. Even if the sport was interesting, I wouldn't watch because of the racial bullshit.

The denials about the problem over there reminds me of the people on this side of the ocean.
