I haven't watched this but I don't turn my head against things that are terrible. Pretending they don't exist creates naivete and false sense of happiness. To me that makes you vulnerable. I would rather know what's up.

I have watched lots of movies on history that included atrocities against peoples or races and you can't understand history if you can't stomach to watch.

    Just my .02

We watched it in class in high school. It is a racist propaganda piece. D.W. Griffiths was an open racist, but it tells you a great deal about his psyche and the roots of racism in US society as well.

I saw that film in its entirity and it was no wonder the NAACP,James M.Trotter, and others protested it. I also saw the word Aryan in one scene when that southern family hid in a house owned by former Union soldiers. Thomas Dixon the man who wrote the book and play "The Clansman" in which this movie was based had a hatred of Blacks during Reconstruction.

It was also the first movie to charge a high admission:$2.00 when the average ticket was .25. In today's money two bucks is $44! That was a lot of hate of a entire race to spend a month's pay to see a flick of that gendre.

    bologna.

Everything from the 5 senses is manipulating the human mind. Showing black people in this manner will in small or large regard put those stereotypes back into people's head. J edgar hoover was very pushy on pointing out MLK jr's faults why is that? You think he was doing it to show how far MLK jr. had come. No, it was to point out to people the bad side of the guy. Those who heard of his comments may believed that over actually hearing the guy. Look at how Newt gingrich called the NAACP left wing when it has nothing to do with left or right. You keep seeing something over and over. You may actually start to believe it.

    For my star trek fans:

Only if you are weak minded.

All the movies and documentaries on Hitler and the Nazis and what you now sympathize with them?? No...that is a silly argument.

This is not like any of the hitler and nazi movies that I have seen.
Most of those movies are shown from the good guy point of view. allies. (Band of brothers)
This would be like airing German nazi propaganda through out all of the movies. Pointing out how jews are bad through out the whole darn movie. (bet jews would have an issue with it.) This would be like making a movie called my struggle by Adolf hitler and then people saying oh well we are just looking to see how far we have come. please! The germans know better! Why can't some of my fellow Americans know better as well.

When it comes to degrading black people and playing it for others to watch, everyone is slow to stop. Oh lets watch it. because of course it would be good to show people Ku Klux Klan propaganda that was used to recruit KKK members.

This movie was used to recruit KKK members! There is your weak minded.

I don't watch movies that are made to degrade people not simply because i know it will influence even the most strong minded of people but it disgusts me to watch.

The other issue is that it is recommended for everyone to see including children who are very easily influenced. Yes people are easily influenced even in adult hood. Look at the death chamber issue for insurance. People actually believed that crap. There are plenty of folks who will be easily influenced. I don't have the time to handle those folks in an era where we have modern issues to deal with.

If you want to keep people good then you have to have good influences all the time.
not this trash that is being portrayed as look how far we have come.

Those who promote this movie concern me as I think they like to show black people being degraded. NO matter what bologna reason they come up.

The only time this movie should be shown is during Racism 101 at your local institution.

And if we're showing how far we've come, let's show where we're at now with racist propaganda like Niggermania and racist site.

We can compare and contrast notes.

    Google it.

    sad but true.

ron paul: His news paper ran degrading items about black people
Santorum: Using black people as a scape goat like german nazis did with the jews despite the majority being on food stamps over the minorities.
Newt gingrich: again scape goating on black people. Calling the NAACP left wing to polarize it. This after the NAACP vowing to widen its issues of helping all americans. Also using black people as scape goat to say that blacks aren't looking for jobs.
Mitt romney: The most likely person to be another nixon. I don't believe him to be racist but his freedom of how money is used in an election could easily place a racist in office which is an issue because people have blinds on and don't give fuck if It ain't happening to them.
