It had its ups and downs. One thing they don't really talk about is if you came from nothing there's an overwhelming fear that at any moment it can be taken from you. As a result my parents overreacted to the most minor of infractions. Like a detention from school resulted in a month of no privileges, staying out late meant coming home to all your clothes in a garbage bag because if you were out late it meant you were up to no good which meant the cops would be coming soon to hall your ass off and take everything they worked for.
So yeah some things were cool but it wasn't free trust me fam
