I'd be pissed... Awesome top quote, lol..... Lady:Hey Walmart, I bought this iPad for $500 and there wasn't a real iPad inside. I want my $500 back. Walmart: No. The plastic seal has been broken. You might be scamming us. If you had been a better scammer, bought a real iPad, replaced it with a piece of plastic, and then put shrink wrap back on, then we would have gladly given you back your $500.
Buying those additional purchase warranties for appliances and high end electronics may seem like a pain, but I would lose my mind if that crap happened to me and the store refused to refund my purchase. Nowadays I think it's worth opening up your ipad in the store and seeing if it boots up. I think normally most stores have a 30 day return policy, but when you bring back an empty plastic shell that's only supposed to look like an ipad, I can see how a retailer would think the customer was running a game.
Well that's how the game got started....scammers re-shrinkwrapped the empty box and $6-buck-an-hr employees threw them back on the shelf. Why would they even care or notice, they have a huge cart of returns to re-stock. But this happened to me once, on a much smaller scale. (Not from a store, though.) BTW, I doubt a warranty would help you in these cases, either. They need the product to re-imburse you for an iPad. It would be hard not to just go the 'I lost it" route if it were an iPhone, though. Tough position.
