Well, I see no point in ever watching those films, considering the kind of reviews they're getting in this thread.

My parents saw that movie and said that it was so bad, they walked out of the theater 5 minutes after it started and got a refund on their ticket. After hearing that, I don't ever want to see it.

    Marci X

Marci X may be a bad flick but I'm pleased the rapper got Marci.

The stories of IR love between slaves and servants, slaves and wives
were very true and very real in books I have read. Also in the 50s in 60s
where it was deeply forbidden in the U.S. Mariah Carey told a her parents story once in an interview where she said they were secretly married from everybody. These kind of stories I think overall is the best
love stories that would work great in movies because even though with racism faced them they had to be the most in love out of everybody during those times.

It's a shame with beautiful stories of IR history has to be ignored and
fucked up in bad IR flicks because we have weak ass black voices in hollywood.

Even though this movie involves my guilty pleasure, the fine ass Kelly Clarkson, the movie "From Justin to Kelly" has to be included on this list. The singing, dancing and acting was laughable at best. Not even Kelly Clarkson's shall I say assets were enough to save this movie.

Just from this picture alone, it's enough to let me know I NEVER want to see that movie.

Yeah. From Justin To Kelly is basically just one long, annoying music video masquerading as a film.

    Steer clear.

IR love in the old slave South

Do you know of any specific books on this topic? I would love to read them.

    Thanks,

    George

Save the Last Dance 1 and 2 weren't too bad for IR movies.

I just saw "Save the Last Dance 2" on MTV the other night finally. The white chick who plays Sarah is a cutie. The story is well-writtened as well. And, there's even a love scene between the two main characters that's done in good taste.

Recently watched Irish Jam. It was so bad that it was embarrassing.

Bend it Like Beckham has quite a few controversial themes running thru it. Relationship b/t an Indian and an Irishmen (movie is set in England), homosexual theme, traditional gender role issues, - nothing racy as the movie was made for a younger audience, but it was done in a decent enough fashion.

Agreed - it does touch on the issues of IR in a non patronising way, although it's a sideline to other cultural issues.

I've watched the movie a gazillion times b/c my daughter likes it - it's actually subtly clever and has pretty good music - all in all better than a Disney flick!! :)

I agree it's a good movie. The Indian girl in the lead role is extremely attractive, don't you think? but Keira knightley...she really, really annoys me!

Yeah, she is beautiful. I love how dark pink make-up looks against her skin.

I can't decide if I like Keira Knightley or not, sometimes she gets on my nerves and sometimes not...

Had you seen the movie Bhaji On the Beach? One of the Indian characters was pregnant with a Black man's child. The brother was searching for her at Blackpool.
