Do you know what you are talking about?

If anything, Los Angeles is the BEST sports city in America.

    No other city
in this country's history has produced more championship teams in professional and collegiate sports.

    Lakers: 9 championships (1972, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002)
    Dodgers: 5 World Series titles -- 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988
    UCLA mens basketball: 11 national championships (1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1995) * more than any other school.
USC football: 11 national championships (1928, 1931, 1932, 1939, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978, 2003, 2004). USC has also produced 7 Heisman trophy winners, currently tied with Notre Dame and Ohio State for the all-time most.

In addition to this, the Lakers have been to the NBA Finals more than any other team (29) and UCLA mens basketball has had more trips to the Final Four, 18, than any other mens collegiate team. UCLA also has more NCAA championships than any other school period (103), more than most universities combined, and USC is number three, 88, for all-time NCAA championships.

As a sidenote, Los Angeles is also only one of three American cities (the others St. Louis, Atlanta) to have hosted the Summer Olympic games and the only one (1932, 1984) to have hosted them twice.

There isn't another city in the world, let alone America, that can touch L.A.'s sport heritage.

The only city among your so-called best that remotely qualifies is Boston. When was the last time the sorry ass Knicks even made the playoffs, let alone won an NBA championship? The Bulls suck. The Bears suck. The Cubs had the best record in major league baseball, but that couldn't stop them from getting their asses beat by my Dodgers. Collegiate sports in Boston, Chicago and New York are a fucking joke.

Get your head out your ass.

Ok. First off I said PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, now while LA college sports heritage can not be matched, and I will give it to you LA is probably the best college sports city. Its record is unmatched and will never be matched.

When I asked the question I said in terms of 4 categories: Quality of teams, Fan Base, and Support from the city, and General interest in pro sports.

Qualities of teams all teams and sports:
    Basketball:
Lakers 2nd greatest NBA Franchise(#1 Boston)
    Clippers (one of the worst)
    Baseball:
Dodgers (5 Championships since moving to LA, one of the most storied franchises in Baseball)
Angels(1 Championship, one of the best teams in baseball over the last 8 years, 1966-01, 3 noteworthy seasons 79,82,86)
    Hockey:
Kings (0 stanley Cups, 1 Conference Championshp)
    Football:
    Raiders(1 superbowl while in LA)
Rams(1 NFL Championship while in LA)
In terms of Championships a great city, no arguing 16 championships in the cities history.

    Support from the city:
The NFL had not 1 but 2 teams in the city that moved to considerably smaller markets. The rams because Anaheim didnt give them the rights to develop a new stadium. The raiders basically the same reason.

    Fan Base:
Fans in LA dont generally live and die with their pro sports franchise, its a very must laid back attitude towards pro sports. You dont get the same fire and passion that you get out of some other cities.

Games tend to be viewed more as a place to be seen not as a place, you go to cheer on the team.

Plus why is it that whenever you see a laker game on TV on a sunday afternoon the place doesnt fill up until the 2nd quarter.

Does the fan base support the team when it is down. What happened to all those fans of the lakers between Showtime and the Late Show. When the Rams and Raiders left where was the outcry.

    General Interest in Professionals Sports:
Well because LA has such nice weather people have more options to go out and do other things which generally leads to less interest in professional sports. And you made my second point in that when you thinks of sports in LA its the Lakers, Trojans, and Bruins. 2 college teams would be more popular than the other pro sports teams in the city.

I disagree on the fans not being supportive in LA.

There's plenty of people that represent the Raiders to this day as if they never left. Lakers also have plenty of die-hard fans. Dodgers fans are the same way.

    Exactly.

I hate when these people from the east act like they know what's going on in the West when they don't know shit.

The only city that belongs in this group is Boston. No Cleveland sports franchise has won a national championship since 1964, when Jim Brown played for the Browns. The Phillies just won a championship, but the Sixers haven't won an NBA title since 1983. The Eagles were good enough to make the playoffs this year, but I don't see them winning the Super Bowl.

Cities with rabid sports fan are like those kids who earn merit badges for participation. I'll take championships any day over that.

Not all a joke. Boston College has a succesful football program with a fervent fan base even in NYC. New York City, for all its size, does not have many Division 1 schools with, off the top of my head, Fordham and St. John's being the only notable Division 1 sports programs in the city. Chicago has Northwestern, which had a successful season in football and were ranked in the Top-25. Of course these schools are no USC/UCLA, but the aforementioned college programs are successful, have storied athletics legacies, and have quite a large fan base.

I get your point. I was looking more at fan loyalty, not necessarily titles
