Aluminium (Al-you-mini-um) is actually the correct name, not Aluminum (Al-oom-in-um). Although both versions were used in Britian (and the US) when the material was first created. But the man who created (and named) it preferred, Aluminium and gave it that name.

There is a long, long story behind why the US uses Aluminum, but fact is the spelling - Aluminium- was standardised in 1990.

Hmm..as for 'sem-i' vs 'semmy', they're interchangeable here. I use them both, depending on what I'm describing.

Semi skimmed milk is a new one for me... it's either skim milk, 1%, 2%, or whole. I assume that 'semi-skimmed' is supposed to be 1%? lol
