I didnt understnd the comment about bad water in Europe as as well, that would be South Europe, not the rest...most of Europe has better water than many places in the US - the water in Houston is awful and so is it where I live in LA. Most big cities in North Europe has 24 h shopping - I dont know about South Eourope and the small beds got me chuckling to as I dont know anybody in Sweden or Germany who dont have King beds... the fridge thing or apartment thing being smaller is not true in Sweden and netither is the food shopping habit he spoke of.

Service is not worse in Europe than i the - some countriesd in Europe, absolutely... as there are wast cultural differences within Europe its just not going to work to generaslize sabout Europe.. some countries have way better service than the US and some way worse service.

haha poor guy just got on wwbm and is getting pounded for generalizations already... No harm Swirlie:) we dont measn to be mewan..

I do eat my fries with mayo tho - but most my friends in Sweden have them with that awful thing called Ketchup. LOL. Ketchup has been i every single household and restaurant in Sweden as long as I remember.

First, the poster was asking about the UK, not all of Europe. My comments were about the UK. If you read my post in the entirety you would have realized that. I even talked about the difference in grammar and asked why subtittles would be necessar in the UK. So, while you comments are nice, they are misplaced. Read more carefully next time all those with comments about Sweden and Germany, etc.

As a matter of fact, I am in Europe now, lol. While I meant to be amusing, I stand by the comments I made, at least most of them. Sevice is definitely a priority in the states versus Europe, period. I'm not talking about service at fast food outlets. I mean service towards consumers in general, in business, department stores, etc. As far as the water goes, if that's true why do most people spend the money on bottled water. I have always been told by residents of the various countries that they don't drink the water themselves, hummm...I wasn't suggesting that you can't get a script filled, but it's nearly as easy to do it. I have been to several Tosco's throughout the Uk, London, Ireland, etc. I found them lacking in the choices that I take care granted in the states. Getting things done on the phone, services of vehicles, negotiating business, all much more difficult than in the states. I guess that I should have claried the comment about the beds as well. I was speaking about stays in hotels. I stayed at very expensive hotels and it's difficult to find king sized beds, not saying that you can't buy them in general. Sorry, it is what it is, lol

Dude, this is England. Our tap water is bloody fantastic, thank you very much.
The bed comment is also not very true. I've been living away from home since I was eighteen and apart from student halls in first year, I've never had a single bed.
We have hundreds of large supermarkets and malls. This isn't the third world.

Not true, there are two supermarkets within 10 minutes from me, one that's open 24 hours and one that's open til 12am.
There are pharmacies that are open 24 hours but it depends on how busy the city is. We have them in Manchester, but not in Sheffield.
Also if you don't want mayo on your fries, just don't ask for it.

This is down to people, not a cultural difference. Families tend to do big family weekly shops. Heck, even we as students do big weekly shops.
And you don't get porn for free on the tv. You get adverts for porn, but not porn. Maybe some tits on Sexcetera, but not porn.

This is true, but we'll still understand you.

NC, my only advise to you would be VISIT a place first before deciding if you're going to live there or not. Other people's opinions and preferences will be very different from yours. If you're actually seriously thinking about moving abroad, save some money, visit these places first, but don't think about moving there permanently unless you visit before.
You might end up hating England. I went to Spain all bright eyed and optimistic thinking it'd be the best time of my life and I would want to live and work there for a year or two, and I ended up having the worst time of my life there.

ahh, ok sorry, I must have missed that. I certainly wasn't aware of it. So, it's not a "duh", it's not knowing...Is everyone here a comedian or just trying to be a downer...

The gist of my post was about convenience. Yes, you can find pharmacies, but not in every city. In the states that's not true.

Despite the number of stores, they were many things that I couldn't find that I never had trouble finding the U.S.

Obviously, you didn't read my rebuttal to someone else, as when I referred to beds, I was talking about hotels, and I didn't say a single bed was all you could find. That's purely somehiing you assumed. I found it difficult to get more than a standard bed, which is larger than a single, when I'm traveling in nice hotels. That was my point. I also made the point that I was talking about items other than supermarket fare in 24 hr. stores. If the weter is so good then why do people but so much bottled water? But, you chose to focus on supermarkets only. Tell me where you can buy auto parts at 2 in the morning?

You guys need to get a grip and a sense of humor, geex, lol. Even the mayo thing was meant as humorous as ketchup is most often requested in the states rather than mayo. But, it's not something to right a book about, OMG, lol

I've stayed in plenty of hotels around England. And every one I've stayed in, I've had a double bed, except one where I had a twin. Generally a room with a double bed only costs about five pounds more than a room with a single bed. Unless you book a room with a single bed, you won't get a single bed.

Why do you need autoparts at 2 in the morning? You should be in bed at that time, not breaking cars.

OMG LOL whatever. It's not about a sense of humour, it's about what you're saying not really being true and choosing to clear some of the stuff that you've said up.
But yeah you want to talk about cultural differences? We're also a LOT more sarcastic. No omg lol for us.
