This is right on. Acting out those ignorant stereotypes is at a deeper level a real sign on internalized self-hate, when the only way to be real is to be ignorant and violent. As for the fighting over skin color, I always wondered why the hell did people fight anyone because a third person thought one way or another about that person's looks? I always just think that unless someone is getting physical, there's no reason fight anyone. People need to learn to live and let live.
Yes and... ...Yes. Just had to throw the short in there, got my left eye all twitching and sh!t, you know I'm sensitive about those days cause the 'BD' kids --Behavior Disorder, had to ride those too:axe::smt100:smt014:smt031:smt092
It's only black folk who make fun of their fellow black person for speaking properly and it's such a damn shame
When I was a kid, some black people, liked a black person who spoke well. But these people who spoke well were on television. Black people who speak proper on television is often the comic relief until the moment when they become the voice of reason. Look at all the black sitcoms from the past like Sanford & Son, The Bill Cosby Show, Baby, I'm Back(Demond Wilson), The Odd Couple(Demond Wilson and Ron Glass)all the way to The Fresh Prince Of Bel Aire. But in real life, such a person seems like someone who is trying to leave the crab bucket and it also seems like that person is putting other black people down. That, of course, is not the case.
So true......I have been insulted for "acting white" Because I happened to speak proper English, and knew most of the answers in history class.
