The good old days when electronics was simple. I built my first amplifier using vacuum tubes as a birthday gift for my dad so he could hear his BS sony walkman better. A 12AV6 and a 50C5. I will always remember that...

Too bad I messed up the rectifier circuit and blew out the fuse in my room the first time. My mom was PISSED!!! LOL

 

My first computer, the TRS80 from Radio Shack, when they used to be REALLY down with electronics. Unfortunately Radio Shack sucks badly today in the real electronics world. I slept with her at night and I was in love with her. A birthday gift from my dad.

I learned so much from that shitty ass 8 bit Z80 microprocessor.

I had 4M (Megabytes..LOL) of RAM (random access memory). Of course that was not enough so I upgraded to the max of 16MB...LOL

Damn... today we have GB (gigabyte) and TB (terabytes)...LOL

But I was the only kid on my block with a PC.

 

Cant forget my classroom baby... the oscilloscope.

She enabled me to see all the invisible waves that I was creating in my "I want to be a mad scientist" days...LOL I want to CREATE energy days...LOL Obviously I was not doing as well in physics class as my teacher said I was...LOL

I will always remember that played out equipment.

 

How old are you dude? Are you from the John Ambrose Flemming era? I thought those became obsolete when transistors(like the 741 op-amp, what's on your avi with the feedback circuit and that) became available.

Anyway, what was Flemming like to work with?

You are correct. This was my first computer I had when I was a child!!! My dad bought one for me the first week it was available Radio Shack back then.

 

yeah they are looking pretty crappy. they are trying better for the last years BUT the 90's fucked them up.

 

True. Radio Shack could not compete with Apple back then. I even switched to the Apple IIe with the 6502 microprocessor. It was way faster than the TRS80 from Radio Shack and had six or seven colors built in. I forget but Radio Shack was dead.

A year after I got to Germany I bought the Apple IIe because I could get the German tax removed. It was way cheaper than if I had bought the same thing in the USA.

I forgot to add that the power supply operated from 220 volts for Germany. When I brought that computer to the USA I swapped with a friend who had the same computer but was going to Hong Kong. He needed my 220v power supply and I needed his 110v power supply. So it all worked out fine for me.

I was stationed in Neu Ulm. Ansbach is not that far by car or train.

I hope you had as much fun in Germany as I did.

Mine is fashion and its seasons!

Mine is fashion, and how my style and choices have changed with age.

I moved on with my love affair with blue blazers, gold buttons and black turtleneck (or mock turtleneck) sweaters,worn on mostly khaki pants, and with a good British brogues to boot, preferably black, back then. I had many sets with different name tags, typical cuts and designs. With shoes, I usually switched between brogues and suede ankle boots.

Over the years, I have drifted, I dislike wearing turtlenecks. But I still find them sexy on women as hell. But what has remained steady is my love affair with polo crest, especially on rugby tops, and regularly having Polo Ralph Lauren logos on button down collar shirts. There is an old money ambiance I liked at a younger age, and they have still remained with me. I loved it like crazy in my university days, and I still love it now. At least, with this love affair, and for me time stood still.
