I started taking a class at my gym: Not only do I really like th music, but you are absolutely drenched after one hour!
Never heard of it before. Thanks for sharing. I will have to see it they have that around here. It looks like it would be fun, though. Sometimes when I am listening to music I get so engrossed I forgot how long I have been working out.
Its called Zumba, and uses a lot of different world music, salsa, merengue etc... Here is a more typical Zumba class But my instructor does mostly Axe' music and those type of moves and include a lot of Middle Eastern moves as well. It really is a lot of fun and the hour goes fast. Im completely drenched afterwards. It is said you burn about 600-800 calories per hour w Zumba. I believe it. Zumba is everywhere it seems. You have to find an instructor whos style fits you (like w all these type classes). Some do more salsa and merengue and some do more middle eastern moves.
Mine has it these are their decriptions: Zumba: Try this fitness party!! Lose yourself in the music and have fun in this effective calorie burning class. Zumba Plus: The same Zumba you love, just a little more intense and a bit shorter on time. (about 5 minutes) Shimmy Core: Using proper belly dancing techniques to elevate the heart rate develop core muscles and tone upper body.
zumba was a big craze with the ladies at the gyms out here for the past few years. before that it was kickboxing class. before that it was spin class. some even got down with capoeira. i say, "whatever works. enjoy the sweat!!" lol
