I think it is a lot more the males who are racist. And maybe when WW are away from their home they are also more open and at ease about IR.

No question the White South Africans who moved to Oz when Apartheid ended made racism a art form. The harassment of those Black Africans is uncalled for.

There are racists in OZ and as is all countries.

America Spain Italy Japan and last but not least England have been the most racist countries in history.

The problem is the world is turning more right wing, more simplistic less tolerant and understanding. Australia has had a great modern history in immigration but its under pressure which is a shame, due to the fact Bin Laden George W Tony Blair and John Howard changed the world for many of us.

"board a plane and breed out an ethnicity ah?" hmmm been done before sounds a bit racist to me!

    White Australia Policy

The original immigrants to Australia were of English heritage, many of whom felt that non-whites were inferior. They restricted immigration only to people of English descent.

1855: First non-white immigration restriction became law in the colony of Victoria - National Archives of Australia: Chinese Immigration Act 1855 (Vic)

Following a major race riot in 1860-1861, similar immigration legislation passed in New South Wales - National Archives of Australia: Chinese Immigration Act 1855 (Vic)

1884: In the colony of Queensland, Pacific Island Labourers Act Amendment Act 1884 (Qld) passed adding layers of restriction to laborers from the islands - National Archives of Australia: Pacific Island Labourers Act Ammendment Act 1884 (Qld)

1901: Pacific Island Labourers Act 1901 (Cth), added the ability to deport -National Archives of Australia: Pacific Island Labourers Act 1901 (Cth)

Immigration Restriction Act 1901 - National Archives of Australia: Immigration Restriction Act of 1901 (Cht)

    Quotations from Australians

    1. "We are guarding the last part of the world in which the higher races can live and increase freely for the higher civilisation. I place before the house a measure of definite and high policy." - PM Edmund Barton, August 7, 1901, when submitting bill to the legislature. (Australia Centenary of Federation: The Establishment Of The Immigration Restriction Act).

    2. "The greatest thing we have achieved..." - PM William Morris Hughes, referring to White Australia Policy in 1919. (Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship: Fact Sheet 8 - Abolition of the 'White Australia' Policy ).

    3. "This country shall remain forever the home of the descendants of those people who came here in peace in order to establish in the South Seas an outpost of the British race" - PM John Curtin, after outbreak hostilities with Japan. (Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship: Fact Sheet 8 - Abolition of the 'White Australia' Policy).

    4. "I cannot forget that in bygone centuries our ancestors in Great Britain were naked savages, and that the history of the empires of Japan and China run back some 3000 years." - Senator Pulsford November 13, 1901, who rejected the bill as being brutal and insulting. (Australia Centenary of Federation: The Establishment Of The Immigration Restriction Act).

The White Australia policy comprises various historical policies that intentionally restricted "non-white" immigration to Australia from 1901 to 1973. The end of the White Australia policy came in 1975.
