The problem really is that our environment isn't set up for predators (dogs/foxes/cats etc.), even the dingo isn't really native, it came here when the Aboriginals settled the Australia. And it's not set up to deal with an animal like a rabbit either. Our native wildlife tends to be a relatively delicate and when white people came and introduced foxes (so they could have fox hunts for fun) and rabbits (so they'd have something to kill and eat) and cats (pets) it all went to shit. Then bring in the cane toad, introduced to get rid of the cane beetle from the cane fields....except it didn't end up liking the cane beetle as much as it did our native wildlife and nothing can eat IT because it's poisonous.

*sigh* Feral animals are a MASSIVE problem here.

Introduced and feral species are kicking ass in the US too...everything from hogs..asian carp...to pine beetles.
