My 2 cents I don't post often but I have to post now in defense of Australia. I haven't been there personally but I've heard some pretty nice stories from brotha's who have been there. A friend of my mine who was in the Navy went to Australia and he says black american men are like stars over there. Hell the Navy hates pulling in there because they know they would leave at least a few guys behind. He said they went to a club in Sydney. It was him and about 3 other brotha's. They did what most guys would do here in the states, order a drink at the bar and scope out the scene. Well, he looks over and sees 8 model type chicks looking and smiling, then one of them comes up to them ask, "Are you guys from the states?" he simply says, "yes" and thinks nothing of it. A few minutes later they literally get swarmed by these women...needless to say, he almost stayed in Australia. I have heard countless stories like these and nothing like the one starting this thread. Sure there is racism there no doubt but black Americans are treated far different than Aboriginies. To Denz Benz and the other brotha's who may have issues with Australia, just get your passport and go. Get out from behind your keyboard and see the world for yourself. I did it and it completely changed my outlook on the world. Just don't go into some other country thinking that just because you are American you are supposed to be treated special (which 99% of the black men that do travel, don't have the ugly American attitude anyway.) and you'll be fine...hell in Australia, you'll be more than fine.
One word: racist site My suggestion: go to their home page and jump to the "down under" forum This is what i found: http://www.racist site.***/forum/t86818/ For the above link: *** = org (change it) :smt023
I'm really shocked and disgusted by what I read there... Call me naive, but sometimes I am absolutely dumbfounded that opinions like this still exist. *shudder*
I don't know much about Australia but I remember I was talking to this Australian lady on msn back in 2005 and she flat out asked me if I was a black boy, I asked her why and she said "nothing, I just thought Brazil had many black guys, that's why I'm asking"... whatever lol. Nick Cave rules though ;-)
