Well, there are some Scandinavian representatives ;) After browsing through the forums I must say I'm a little fascinated by how a lot of the guys in here view Scandinavian and European women in general. I've never really thought of us as more progressive than other parts of the world when it comes to dating interracially. But nice to know that we are viewed that way :)

I'm just glad that women like you are on this message board and threads. Is Oslo have more love than the other Norwegian towns? I do admire the liberal attitude of loving in your country. Did you know about Earl Hyman, the actor who played Bill Cosby's father on the Cosby Show? He lives in Norway for more than 40 years. Also the first Black US ambassador to a European state happened in Norway from 1961 to 1964.

Of course I know about Earl Hyman's love for Norway. My little country makes a big number of every foreign celebrity that visits Norway at least twice and calls them "Norway friends". I think it's Norwegian media's way of creating some national pride. I didn't know about the ambassador though.

But to answer your question about Oslo. I don't think it's so much the fact that Oslo shows more love, but that Oslo has been more exposed to immigration from all parts of the world than the rest of Norway has. I'm originally from a city farther north and though it's one of the bigger cities in Norway there were very few kids from other racial backgrounds than Norwegian when I grew up (while the neighborhood I live in now here in Oslo is just a huge mix of people from all over the world) Things have changed a lot since then, but I think the fact that people in Oslo have experienced a multicultural society for a longer time has made it a more tolerant city. I guess my view is that exposure forces people to be more tolerant. It's easier to have a prejudice against people who have a different race/background than your own, when you don't know anyone who has.

In general I think there's a lot of love going around in this little country though, although we might seem a little reserved/cold at first (just our shy nature).

Have you been to Norway since you know all this stuff?

Can you e-mail me? It is so much to tell you about my knowledge of your country. For example if I visit the US Embassy in Oslo I love to see the painting of the first black envoy to a European state Clifton Wharton Sr chosen by John F. Kennedy in 1961.
