    Hello Scott.

How a Man dress will command a certain type of Woman that crosses his path.

There are some Women who prefer a clean-cut, neatly dressed Man.

There are some Women who prefer a guy that offers a more “Hip Hop persona” in their attire.

There are some Women who like a more “Rock Star” type look in a Man.

Of course there are some men that like to switch it up. However, there is always something that shows the article of clothing worn is merely a costume for that particular day. This is due to adding some of your characteristics to the clothing in which is not considered the proper way to sport the outfit.

    For example;

Wearing a Polo shirt, with your Jeans sagging. Although, you may assume you are being “Preppy” and, even go as far as popping the collar, you wreak Hip Hop.

Another example is wearing a suit two to three sizes larger in order to offer a baggy look. This wreaks a first time suit wearer who hasn’t been taught the proper way to sport a suit or, one who decides to wear a suit because Sean Combs wears them at who’s who’s parties. There’s nothing professional about this fashion faux for the fit is sloppy which, goes against the grain of the proper way to wear a suit.

When we walk down the street, our clothing will portray the type of person we are in societies eyes. And, it is that same article of clothing that will inform a Woman what type of characteristic this guy will offer. Of course, your personality can override such an assumption. However, one would need to speak with the party in order to “beg to differ.”

Taking into consideration we are all judged on first appearance, how is one going to “beg to differ” when it is not custom to speak to everyone who crosses your path down the street?

There was a bloke who made a thread in regards to not finding in his eyes the ideal White Woman. Well, his clothing is more than likely the root of his problem. For the type of Women he is seeking, I get all the time whereas, the Women that are drawn to him, I never get. By him showing photographs of how he dresses, in society and I, explaining my dress preference, our taste in clothing are polar opposites.

    Cheers!

I agree with you 100% my friend. Almost word for word in fact.

but still you didnt really answer my question completely---- In your first post I quoted you said your attire limits your choices. and like I said your clothing taste is very similar to mine. You never really went in depth as to why you believe it actually somewhat limits you. For example are saying that not really tons of women are into your style? I think I pretty much understand what you were trying to say and I think we're on the same page. Just checking.

The limitation is based from on hands experience throughout the years. Everything I write stems from experience.

I've noticed in the States, many assume a person should wear a certain type of clothing because everyone else does in his/her demographic. Once you don't fall into that category, and move to a beat of your own drum, some Women will find your taste in clothing attractive while some will not.

I remember when I first came to the States a stranger was explaining to me that I would not get any Women based on how I dress. He stated I needed to wear Timberland Boots, Sweaters with Hoods and, Baggier Jeans in order to “Bag females.” He also suggested I dispose of my proper English.

He meant well, so I thanked him for his advice. However, I know that wasn’t me and will not change my appearance to meet Women. This all took place when I was 16 years old working in a retail store as a stock boy on the weekends.

Had I taken his advice, I would imagine I would’ve gotten more heavily influenced Hip-Hop orientated Women giving me the eye. While, I don’t have anything against that type of Woman, on a mental level we would be on a different wavelength and, there lies the problem. While physical appearance is always the motive of attraction, it means nothing if you don’t have enough in common to hold a good conversation.

So yes, there is a limitation for wearing certain types of clothing when meeting the opposite sex. However, what you lose in quantity, you gain in quality. Both parties can distinguish the type of character you possess based on your attire.

    Cheers!

I agree with everything you said Complex. I am attracted to the intellectual type that dresses very nice and somewhat conservatively. While I might be physically attracted to someone who dressed differently- and I hold nothing against anyone- I would feel we might not have that much in common.
