Does it ever end, looks like another movie filled with stereotypes. I don't even think that Ir will even play a role in this.

It seems that Christina Ricci will be some slut who has sex with lots of black men

That seems to be the gist of it, I guess in this world you gotta be slutty if you mess with black dudes damn shame.

I just checked the article posted in that link. It may be a little misleading.

They make it seem as though Jackson's character is keeping Ricci as some sort of sex slave or something.

On another website I checked it goes into more detail. It seems that Sam Jackson's character has a "nearly nude" (meaning she isn't) Christina Ricci chained in his kitchen, the reason being that he's trying to cure her of her "nymphomania". I suppose chaining her up so she can't go out and have sex with the entire town.

She may play a 'nympho' character....but, does she get with brothas??? I'll believe it when I see it.

I'd be surprised if there was even a screen kiss between her and a brotha in this movie.

Samuel L. Jackson is going to play the black savior character. Like Will Smith in Bagger Vance.

The old magical negro role,Hollywood loves that formula.

Yea, Samuel L. Jackson charactes helps her stop being a nympho. And then she marries Justin Timberlake's character. I read that from one of the movies descriptions.

Doesn't seem like they are really "exploring" the last taboo, but rather finding some way around it. Kinda like the kiss of Uhuru and Kirk in the original Star Trek in 1967.

New York Times Apr 23,06 The Last Taboo

I read that story in the New York Times. I find it kind of shameful that a ww had to be like a loose woman to a black man. White directors have a hoochie mama on the brain and a Black man to cure her of this "disease".

If you liked Hustle and Flow, you'll more than likely like this. Except for the actors, pretty much everyone else from before is working on it(director, producers, writer). Now if you thought Hustle and Flow was lackluster or disrespectful, you'll probably, you guessed it, catch the same vibes with this film.

    One more thing,
Best.....quote.....ever! Nice to see someone who shares the same view on our top parties as I do. :p :p

    Make it stop already...

Now, we have 3 problems with blacks in Hollyweird films. 1. Films are way too stereotypical, 2. Films about IR between black men/white women are only about lust and never love for some other obvious reason other than racism, and 3. Too many of these types of movies are being intertwined now, like this one...

and, to me, it would seem like the perfect role for someone like Aguilera.

I'll take a real interest in a movie with BM/WW IR when they show a classy black man and a classy white woman fall in love. But to say that "Black Snake Moan" addresses the issue of IR relationships between BM and WW is very insulting to those who are in good relationships. What is so hard about showing these relationships in a respectable light? But then again, part of it is the fault of black male actors themselves, especially people like Denzel Washington. I now refuse to watch any of his movies in which he is paired up with a white woman without romance.

I know that these are just movies. Actually, I don't care that much for what is going on in Hollywood. I don't watch most of their movies or watch most of their TV shows anyway. But it is still nice to have respectable IR movies with WW and BM.

    I agree with number 1.

I agree with number 2 as well, but I'm not seeing how this film is about an interracial relationship between Samuel L Jackson and Christina Ricci in the least. If that's the case, then DJay was in an interracial relationship with Taryn Manning in Hustle and Flow. I don't view that as a relationship. Not one that would garner any true love anyway.

    I agree with number 3.

It's almost like trying to compare this to Something New. Now, does there need to be a film where IR couples between black males and white women aren't lusting all over each other ie in a serious relationship? Yes. This film doesn't even look like it comes close to that criteria.

That article is simply a promotional tool SardonicGenie. A 'hype' piece. People see the title and they just know it's about Sam Jackson getting into this heavy(probably sexual) relationship with Christina Ricci. Key word was 'Taboo'. Throw in some photos of him carrying her around and her with her hands on his leg and you've got half the nation hooked. HYPE PIECE!!!

I'm willing to bet money that won't be the case at all.

I'm about to get started on this spec script about a black man and white woman that are married. It's doesn't focus solely on the relationship, but I do plan to use a lot of character development between them and the daughter they're have.

I'll let you guys know how it's coming along. It really does look grim as far as serious relationships between bm/ww are concerned cinema wise, but I really think a change of attitudes is coming one of these days on that. Not a total change, but a change nonetheless. And even if it doesn't, I have to be able to go back and say I tried. Fight the good fight and all that jazz.

It's working title is Face Your Fears. I guess it would be listed as something of a drama. All I have now is a synopsis and outlines.

    I'll keep you guys updated. :p :p :p

madscientist. Denzel had been in a very few mostly that flick He's Got Game but I believe you since that flick he is the same like in Man On Fire. Also on Ricochet his character was too high to perform.
