http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/32453516?GT1=43001 TODAY, with the help of the University of Miami emergency mobile flip-flop lab, tested some footwear and found that there were more than 18,000 bacteria on just one pair of flip-flops. Even more shocking than the number of germs were the types represented — bacteria from fecal matter, skin and respiratory germs. One pair of 6-year-old flip-flops had germs that cause yeast infection and diaper rash.
They are, I didn't want to call them that incase people thought I was talking about underwear. :smt042
Well i guess i dont have a problem as i dont wear them often only have one pair and i dont wear this often at all i cant walk with this my feet hurt need to have some heels even a little to walk good
Flips are not good for your feet either I find if I wear them for too long a time my feet hurt, there is no support for your heel at all and you unconciously walk differently because you have to fight to keep them on ur feet. Lol has anyone tried to run in flip flops?
Agreed. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm anti-flip flop anyway. :smt043 They have a place in public showers and near swimming pools. Oh crap, nevermind. I know everyone loves their damn flip flops. I'll shut up now. Ha ha ha.
lippy thinks that flipflops are kind of like mascara...you really should be throwing them out every 4-6 weeks and getting a new pair or opening a new tube...i usually find a pair i like and then buy 2-3 pair of them and have no problem throwing them out...they are not expensive and it's a good idea to keep your feet healthy... tip: i also run my flip flops through the dishwasher...as well as combs, brushes, toothbrushes... lippy
Hmmm.... I think I would like to start doing that. Well, I don't have a dishwasher. I can buy a portable dishwasher though, after I win the lottery, or after Saty wins the lottery and I become his bestfriend, heh.
britty...you can throw them all in the kitchen sink in a tub of hotwater and let them soak...scrub them off and then let them dry outside in the sun...
Do you have any soap suggestions? Does it matter? I've washed brushes for my hair before with dish soap and I just run my toothbrush under hot water before and after I use it and replace the brush head often (I have an electric toothbrush). I remember one time I used one of those Tide pens on my flip flops, heh. If I remember right, I think when I was little my mom washed our tennis shoes in the washing machine. I wonder if that could be done with flip flops?
Just don't buy too cheap of flip flops. I hate to post this because it will add fuel to bookie's flip flop fire I saw this on the news several years back about a woman who bought cheap Walmart flip flops and got chemical burns from them. : http://www.lamanaphotography.com/walmart2.htm
That looks really painful. I've bought flip flops from Wal-Mart a couple/few times and had no problems. I wonder if it could have happened to anyone/any flip flop supplier and it was just a freak accident...
