As a kid you probably imagined or wondered about how you would be or wanted to be as a grown-up. Are you that person now?
Not asking about what you pictured yourself to be profession-wise,but personality-related.

As for me I pretty much am who I wanted to be.Never wanted to be excentric person or anything like that. Just a decent person, with a big heart, and family orientied. And that is who I indeed have turned into :)

My view of the world as a kid, was pretty naiv, of course. My imagination, who I'd like to be, when I am gown-up, was a phantasy.

The experiences I've made and the scenes I've seen, changed me, had their influences. Cruelty, hunger, death..has left its marks. Scarves on the heart, wrinkles in my face.

I was always an adventurer, even as a kid, I could never be on one place for long. But exactly those adventures forced me many times to go over my own limits and all positive attitudes bring up negative ones, too.

So, I wolud say half and half, I am the person, I expected to be sometimes, when I was a child

I am not where I wanted to be, but I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.

no, I thought life would be easier. It is easier than I thought it would be in college but too much of my time is taken away in work and dreading the next day's work.

    Nope, not by long shot!

Not emotionally, financially, romantically, professionally, even spiritually.

I have failed! Oh well, I guess I am a work in progress, working on my second act.

How much do you think you'd need to be financially happy and how far do you need to go professionally?

-Rich enough to buy my own island
-Accumulate finance that will afford me the freedom to do whatever my heart desire, i.e to continue eduMecating myself, participate and enjoy in finer things the world has to offer.

I've always said that for me to be happy financially I need 12 million dollars but I want 50.
Career wise I just need to do something I like and that affords me time to spend with my family.

Excellent thread. So refreshing. My answer is no. However, in my late teens I had three goals to achieve. I have achieved only two out of that three, so far. I will never be satisfied until I achieve all of my goals.

I'm not anywhere near what I wanted to be. Not even in the same country as the person I wanted to be...not even the same PLANET. LOL Which is kinda sad, but you can't dwell on this stuff. I am who I am, an I'm not too shabby, so I don't care much.

I was never particularly ambitious and cannot remember setting meaningful goals as a child. When I became an adult I decided that I wanted to become a political theorist, which I still desire in addition to writing novels.

I can't remember where I really wanted to be.

Becoming deaf wasn't a part of the plan, but it's made me better overall.

One thing I do remember wanting, was to do something nursing related... which is the plans after I graduate from my current university next year.

Guess we'll see how that goes

Am I doing what I wanted to when I was a kid? Not even remotely close. I always figured I'd end up in the arts, either performing or working for a non-profit. I did both briefly.

But then I had a child, which was not something I'd planned on either, and his future was more important than my life, so I did a complete 180 and went into high tech.

Am I *who* I wanted to be, as a person? I'm not sure I gave that as much thought back then, but I'm not disappointed in who I am at all. I'm pretty comfortable with who I am.

This is an interesting question (personality-related), am I disappointed in who I am?
I think that it has nothing to do with being disappointed, if you answer the OP's question with NO. It's simply different.
It's more that a kid's mind is full of phantasy and wishes and it has no idea, how the real life is.

Why aren't you wordsmith? If my dumb ass can do it then you should have no problem doing it.
Surprising how much we have in common. :smt012
