Are you a politically correct individual or a fuck it Im not censoring myself to appease others kind of individual. I'm more pc in the words I use than anything, I guess because I find that it comes off as if you have better manners and a higher moral standing. When it comes down to how I express myself wit these words, it can really go either way. Most of the time its in a well mannered way, but sometimes if Im pissed or heated IDGAF and I'll treat (put a person in their place) a person in a heartbeat.

I am pc, painfully so. Too much brain washing in those sensitivity training courses. Sometimes I just want to scream "the best part of you ran down your mother's leg maphuka!!!!!!!!!"

    But alas, I don't.

I think there's a time and place for everything. I try to adjust to whatever situation I'm in. If one calls for having manners and showing my home-training, I'm your girl. Now flip to when I'm around my friends and even sometimes my parents, I'm very un-PC.

I try to be sensitive, aware and polite in face to face interactions. Sometimes that means just not saying anything at all.

I always speak my mind, but I do endeavor to do it in the least offensive way possible, unless I am seeking to intentionally offend, which is rare. So I try to go for the most polite way to get the message across, which sometimes isn't polite at all, but you just cannot always say something nicely. I think the ugly truth beats the pretty lie every time. I also tend to not offer unsolicited advice, and if someone asks my advice I always warn them beforehand if I know they aren't going to like it. I also always apologize when I upset someone, or offend them, as I really do feel badly about that and rarely seek to have that effect... though sometimes those apologies run along the lines of 'I'm truly sorry that your overly delicate sensibilities and massive immaturity caused you to be offended by my remark, in the future just don't ask me what I think and you can remain happily deluded'. I think in that particular case she was more offended by the apology than my initial remark, which she asked for... oh well that's just how it is sometimes.

On the flip side, I'd prefer people just be straight-forward and blunt with me, it saves a lot of time.

Good post Espy. Now I have a question for you, how would you approach people that you have to work with that talk too much? i.e. the monologuers.
I am a great listener, rather listen then talk but unfortunately I am currently surrounded by people that are enamoured with the sound of their own voices. It's gotten to the point where I literally feel I can't listen for another minute without losing my mind.

You know I had the same problem before I was self-employed Athena. I was like the office bartender. I think the instant people figure out you have decent problem solving skills, are polite, helpful, and a good listener they just come out of the damn cubicles in droves! I'm sure people view you as all of the above, so your counsel is highly sought after.

I hate to be rude and just tell folks to piss off, because most of them talk too much because they're lonely, or have no one at home that actually listens or gives a damn. So I limited the amount of contact they had with me. I never ate in the lunch room, or socialized with any of them outside the office, that just makes them think you actually like listening to them. During office hours, if one of them came into my office I would politely listen for a few minutes, then if it started dragging on I'd glace at my screen, jump up in shock and announce that I just noticed a calendar reminder and I had a meeting with one of the doctors. I'd politely suggest they email me if they had something else important to discuss. That generally cut them off and rarely would they take the time to email.

:smt042 I'm the same both places. The main difference is in person you get the benefit of facial expressions so you can actually tell when I'm being sarcastic.
