Mixing? Not a good choice of words there.

It was no change for me because I was born into it as a Brat and chose to make my career in the military, so that's all I know (and its all my kids know). It is truly an international melting pot sub-culture, and homogenous cultures seem weird to most of us.

same here, i was born into as well so it was natural and mixing with other kids of different races was as natural as anything. mixing is a common word we use, no racial connotations to it or pcisms.
