I'm too lazy to commit to any spirituality or religion, but I enjoy researching and learning about them and stealing little parts I especially like to form my own medley of beliefs and stuff.
I have never meditated. I have some meditation CDs though. Have you meditated? What's that like for you?

I love meditation. i practice Vispassana,http://http://www.dhamma.org/en/vipassana.shtml which offers a free ten day course or three day course if you're interested in learning. http://www.dhamma.org/en/bycountry/ They use it in some prisons ans it has decreased violence by 90%. It changed my life, I don't want to live without it. I usually read Pema Chodron before I and After I meditate. Meditation allows me to see reality as it is, not how I want it to be. The concept of impermanence for instance. Nothing last forever, so don't be attached to grief, pain, laughter or joy. Enjoy the moment and let it go. Nothing lasts forever. It's a simple law of the universe, but we ignore it. So many people are unhappy because They insist on having and searching for pleasure all the time, but pain is also there, and equally beautifula nd life changing, not better or worst than joy It simply is.. you can't have one without the other. Acceptance of this reality is the first mature step in spiritual growth in my opinion. But of course you dont have to buy my BS. Lol!

Falun Dafa is also good, but very different.

Zen is interesting, more the Japanese view of things. I've read a lot of Zen, but my path is Vispassana and Tibetian Buddhism with a BIG pinch of Theravada Buddhism, which I picked up in Asia when I lived and worked there.

I'll look into the type(s) of meditation you've provided. Adroa knows I could apply quiescence to my road-runner thoughts.

Sounds like some good BS to me, I'm sure I could use it.

    Hi!

I meditate everyday, and were I to identify with any religion, Buddhism would be the closest to my beliefs...

I meditate 3 to 4 times a week. I don't identify myself with any religion, though I suppose I probably fall somewhere between Sikhism, Panthiesm and Rastafari.

I like Buddhism because it's a philosophical understanding of how to live your life. There's no God figure. The Buddha is not worshipped, but his teachings are adhered to. No heaven or Hell per se. Of course man can fck about anything up with bad interpretations.

A on going joke is that Buddhism is the perfect religion for an Atheist. I have to whole to agree.
