Okay okay, I have much more money than I thought for next Summer. I'm already planning on going back to NYC for a lil bit and rather than stay there longer I thought about going to L.A. Only thing is, well I don't know ANYTHING about it so... - What hotel would you reccommend? I don't want unwashed bedsheets, cockroaches or anything like that. Somewhere centralised too. - Where are the "places to be"? What sights should I go see? - What's the best Summer month to go? - Anything else I should know? Cheers.
I must say Sarah off topic a bit, that you are an exstremely brave girl to travel all that way with a small child, well done you, ive only managed spain with my 2 and it was hard work (phew)
- What hotel would you recommend? None, get a nice motel in Santa Monica and we have laws against unsanitary conditions in living quarters, be they temporary or permanent. L.A. doesn't have a real "center." I live downtown and to some that's our center, but not really. - Where are the "places to be"? What sights should I go see? Everywhere, L.A. is ridiculously fun. You'd probably like Los Feliz, Hermosa Beach, Koreatown, Magic Mountain, Little Toyko . . . maybe Hollywood. - What's the best Summer month to go? Any of them, they're all equally warm with blue skies. No rain and of course it never snows here. - Anything else I should know? The west is the best.
LOL I wish I was that brave. He's going to stay at his dads for a couple of weeks in the Summer... so I'm treating myself. I'm going with my friend and my sister.
Lucky you enjoy yourself, damn i wish my husband would have the kids for a couple off weeks but even when he visits he insists i go out with him because he says he cant cope with the pair off them, (Dumbass how the hell he thinks i do it i dont know) Live it up over there for me aswell, while your at it artyman: Not complaining though i had quite a few holidays B4 they got here
That's what I heard about LA from my dad. He lives out in the Silicon Valley. He said LA has no real downtown and is boring even though big. But then again, my dad has a "refined taste," or so he thinks.
Our downtown is being revitalized, but I'm not interested as I am not a tourist. L.A. is an acquired taste, but it's definitely a fun place . . . much more fun than Silicon Valley.
Thanks sweety. I say cockroaches cause on tripadvisor.com there's always someone claiming they seen cockroaches. LOL.
Oh, cockroaches rule the south west, Tucson, Arizona even has competitions for the largest one. But you won't find them in a decent Hotel nor will you find dirty sheets. Book your hotel though a reputable place and plan to spend at least $60.00 a night, because if you are really looking for cheap, you may find cockroaches, dirty sheets, and per hour costs. But you don't strike me as a girl who vacations on a tight budget. So Enjoy it.
Sorry but I'm going to say you do have to be careful of the hotels you pick even in Santa Monica. I stayed at the Ramada there once thinking it should be ok and it was old and icky. There are plenty of nice hotels in the LA area though. Oh and sometimes Disneyland is best without kids! I took my older two a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time. You'll have to let us all know when you come out. I've been thinking we should have some sort of get together down there.
