Another question about Save the Last Dance

I was just wondering, because i recently purchased the DVD (i happen to love this film), if owning this movie, or even really liking it, means that you have interest in dating interracially?? It seems like a lot of the young people who have been involved in interracial dating in the past, or who are interested in dating interracially in the future, all mention this movie as one of their favorites. Can it be that a movie can actually speak volumes about someones personal life preferences, or is it simply a matter of coincidence you think??

 

i think there is truth in people interested in dating a white woman or a blackman who are not of the same ethnic group will relate or be drawn to the story because some of the conflicts they may face are within the movie.

But a lot of white girls like the movie because of the dancing and the fantasy of living in another world. There is also an element of befriending the other as it were and getting to know this other world in a substantial way. A relationship where you are accepted and taken under wings. You can make mistakes because you are new and every likes because you are.

 

I own that dvd too and friends have watched it, who don't necessarily IR date, but still enjoyed the movie..

If a person buys it, at the very least they are probably not racist..

Personally I try to support all IR movies... I can't stand Ashton Kutcher, plus I figured you couldn't make a comedy out of a classic. but I bought that film any way (love Bernie Mac though and surprisingly I loved the movie). I bought it because I want the powers that be, know that there is an audience for IR material.

 

People are normally influenced by the perceptions of the American media broadcasted out there in the world, so it could be a possiblity.
