I think you do see the materialistic, it's all about me, attitude more in the under 30 crowd. I notice that women in their teens to mid-twenties talk more about finding a man to support them so they don't have to work, than women in their mid-thirties and up. Now maybe that's because the later are more stable in all respects and therefore don't need or want to be 'taken care of'. Maybe it's a question of maturity, though I wasn't like that when I was younger, but my upbringing really reinforced the concept of earning your own way. Anyway, whatever is responsible, it's unfortunate. I raised my daughter the same way I was raised and she thinks it's appalling how many of the girls she knows are just looking to 'live off of a guy'. I don't understand how anyone could think like that personally.

Andrae, I think Chi's suggestion is great. I also think that if you just focus on you, everything else will fall into place when it's supposed to. The best things in my life happened to me when I wasn't looking for them, or expecting them. Of course you could just say to hell with your generation and find a nice cougar... we seem to have a really good supply of those here.

LOL, fixed. You can have the pinot, I'll stick to water. I never drink, they say it enhances your personality and lessens your inhibitions... now just think about that for a minute, what a mortifying thought that is. Uninhibited Espy would be quite frightening, for everyone! It's a public service for me to stay sober, hence I've never been drunk, and I don't plan to change that. LOL, I don't drink coffee either. I really just drink water and that's it. I don't like the taste of alcohol, and I've tasted lots of different options, they all tasted awful. But caffeine makes me entirely too energetic and I have enough energy as it is. I'll just watch you drink whatever you like.

 

Damn Espy. Looks like I'm reading a post I wrote. I never liked coffee or tea.

I've sipped wine or champagne to make a toast, but I hate the taste. I don't even drink soda. I never liked it.

Give me my water (lemonade or fruit punch) and I'm happy!

 

LOL, same here. I don't drink any type of soda and never did, even as a kid. I drank ice tea when I was pregnant because it was the only thing I could keep down, and if water is not an option that would be my second choice. I don't even bother to try anything alcoholic anymore, I know I'm not going to like it so I don't see the point. I drink OJ because that's what I mix protein shakes with, but other than that it's water all the time.

 

I don't like iced tea, but I do drink OJ too.

I NEVER liked soda either (since birth is seems). I remember growing up, when we had those scented erasers, someone had a Coca-Cola one and I was grossed out by it cause it smelled just like soda. That's how much I hated it (smelling a damn eraser...lol). I also remember before they started having lemonade in the soda machines, the only place I could drink something from the fountain was McDonalds' orange drink. I just HATE carbonated drinks.

Couple pages back IB and I got into a discussion about how neither of us drink, in one of our typical thread jacking incidents. I suspect that's what prompted his comment, but confused the hell out of everyone else. LOL

No, I've been to many clubs (and a few bars) in my day and was still able to have a good time. People drinking around me doesn't bother me, as long as they don't become belligerent.
