Actress Amanda Bynes placed under psychiatric care in California

She has turned her life around since entering rehab last year.

And in a series of Twitter photos shared by Amanda Bynes on Friday, the actress turned design student truly did appear back to her best.

The 27-year-old looked healthy and happy as she posed alongside her mother and father at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, where she is now studying.

Her parents have proved the key to Amanda's recovery, supporting her even when she rejected their help at her worst point.




The Twitter posts mark only the third time that Amanda has made use of the social networking site since she came out of rehab to live with her parents and started studying in December 2013.

She involved herself in college life by using the hashtag #FIDMDEBUT alongside each of her uploads, clearly proud to be part of the reputable institute.



CONGRATULATIONS!!

 

I just hope she and her family realize that mental illness is not something you "recover" from. Having a productive life with a significant mental illness, requires vigilance and the support and understanding of family and friends.

 

Hopefully she stays on the straight & narrow this time. What she doesn't need to become is another Lindsay Lohan/cautionary tale.

Abuse of drugs played a HUGE part of her downward spiral. Not mental illness, so much. She has also expressed 'mortification' at her "drake murder my psy" comment, so I think when you successfully come off hallucinate drugs (much like Brittany Spears did), and provided no cognitive damage occurred, you can actually recover.

 

It's great to see someone pull it together and beat their demons. Best of luck to her.

 

Yes...yes...

I use to find her annoying, but now I have nothing but love for her, especially after her performance in Hairspray. I guess the question remains whether she'll keep herself off of drugs and consider other options to maintain her personal well-being.

Time will well.

 

Good to see she is doing well. Hollywood is littered with too many that paid with their lives in that environment and all that often comes with it.

I have worked around mentally ill people before. A lot of them self medicate with hard drugs. I'm pretty sure that's what happened to her.

 

Not sure they can say she has been "formally" diagnosed? Especially with HIPPA. Also, her parents official statement mentioned no such thing. Not saying you are incorrect, because the story says so, and because yes, mental illness is often masked by illegal drugs like you said, but the swiftness in which she went from 0-60 without exhibiting prior signs of schizophrenia/bipolar disorder, indicates to me that drugs most likely had this chick hallucinating to danger levels. But I could be wrong. Perhaps one day she will speak out on what she went through and we will learn what she is or was dealing with.
