Has anyone else here seen this movie? I'm not generally a fan of musicals (To the disappointment of my lovely gay boys) but I really loved this one. The only other musical I've ever liked has been Sweeny Todd, but I love Johnny Depp and it was just dark and gritty enough that I loved it. But this one...I'm a fan of The Beatles anyhow, and I found this movie to be quite stimulating. The music is fantastic, the storyline is great, the acting was fantastic...and, for all you guys out there, there's an interracial relationship as a subplot between a sultry singer and a Jimi Hendrix lookin' fella. Trailer my favorite scene...don't watch if you plan on seeing the movie. It breaks my heart every time. It makes me cry. Fuck, my eyes are watering up right now just watching the scene on youtube. Powerful. There are lesbians, too Adorable lil asian girl with a killer voice. And this one has some great imagery. Hah. Uncle Sam wants YOU! If you watch it, near the end (around 3:18) you'll see the IR couple I mentioned. And get to hear Sadie's sexy voice. mmmm. I love that chick. ...yeah, I fucking love this movie. It's fantastic. Especially when the character Sadie is screaming out "Helter Skelter" and it keeps switching back from her on stage and a riot.
Saw it about a month ago on Starz. I knew about the IR subplot but never got around to seeing it in the theater. Its a good film though its first half is stronger than its second. The Hendrix-dude and Joplin-lady are played by talented performers and make an attractive couple. Their was a maturity about them that made them more interesting to me than the lead couple. But not enough was done with them. Below is a youtube link to a scene between that was cut from the film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUP0_mWCamA
