In the deep South of the last century a white woman who hates black men and a black man who fears white women but, loves them none the less. Is it possible for them to really change toward each other? I would love to write a novel on a relationship between a black man and a white woman of the 1930's in the American South. I have heard stories in the past from relatives living in the South of white women from racists families who became racists themselves because of family influence but, because of circumstances and situations that they found themselves in with black men have changed from their racist ways. The black men in those times who feared the threat of death from just looking at a white woman or were subjected to a white woman's desire for sex meant certain death for them must have been tortured in a sense that he could not have the woman of his dreams who also wanted him. I wish some of these so-called interracial movies would touch on this aspect of IR history. Imagine a story of a white woman from either a powerful wealthy family or from a poor upbringing in the Jim Crow segregated South who falls in love with a black man in a secret relationship. She was racist until she finds out that he is human too. The black man falls in love with her at his peril. He treats her with respect and protects her with his own life. The relationship would meet a horrific end with the reality of two worlds one black and one white in which neither will accept the couple. Just a thought in mind.

A lot of material for a very good story. Dramaturgy, Love, Hate, Fury, at least Death.

Artistically superbe, but you know commercially a happy end sells better.

Maybe they could have a (secret) son together and the son of this son, their grandson tells that story. This man could be black or white-powerful or not, but this past is maybe a problem for him?

Whatever just short thoughts. Wish you good luck ..

Thank you Christine dubois. Excellent suggestions for a story. The untimely end could be for both or just the black man would come at the hands of the Ku Klux Klan when that secret terrorist organization found out that the code of white supremacy was violated.
