Decision made two days following leaked N-word-filled phone call.
    (November 5, 2007)

A&E has pulled its reality series starring Duane "Dog" Chapman two days after a private phone conversation in which he repeatedly used the N-word leaked to the National Enquirer and, eventually, the Internet.

"In evaluating the circumstances of the last few days, A&E has decided to take `Dog The Bounty Hunter' off the network's schedule for the foreseeable future," the network said in a statement Friday. "We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun."

Officials at the network say the show, one of its highest rated programs, has not been cancelled.

So far, two advertisers have pulled out of the show, and civil rights groups are calling for its permanent removal from the lineup. A coalition of groups in Los Angeles sent a letter to network executives Friday stating the show's temporary removal from the schedule is not enough.

Earl Ofari Hutchinson, president of Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, said the coalition believes Chapman's language was even more damaging to black women than the "nappy-headed hoes" remark made by shock jock Don Imus toward the Rutgers women's basketball team. CBS and MSNBC fired Imus in the wake of his comments. However, Citadel Broadcasting Corp. Thursday announced Imus' return to radio in December.

"If they can essentially say, 'We're firing Imus in the front door and bring him in the back door later on,' they can also do the same with this guy and his show," Hutchinson said. "It seems like to me A&E is keeping their options open."

In the leaked phone conversation, Chapman urges his son Tucker to break up with his girlfriend, who is black. He also expresses concern about the girlfriend trying to tape and go public about the TV star's use of the N-word. He used the slur six times in the first 45 seconds of the five-minute clip.

In a statement, Chapman has repeatedly apologized and said he was "disappointed in [Tucker's] choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character. However, I should have never used that term." He also said he was ashamed of himself and reached out to various black activists, including the Rev. Al Sharpton. Last week, Sharpton released a statement saying he would meet with Chapman when he has time in his schedule.

Chapman's attorney, Brook Hart, said his client is not a racist and vowed never to use the word again. Hart said Tucker Chapman taped the call and sold it to the Enquirer for "a lot of money." However, the Enquirer's editor in chief, David Perel, would not comment on how the tabloid obtained the tape.

Newsflash : They did not yank it because they considered what he said wrong, it's simply for bad press. They know that the easiest way to make networks budge is by hitting them in the wallet.

    TV DIRTY 'DOG' SHOCK
    By DAVID K. LI

November 1, 2007 -- A&E muzzled TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman last night, suspending production of his show after a tape surfaced of him using the n- word.

Chapman spewed the hateful slur in a taped phone conversation posted online by The National Enquirer.

The cable network, owned by Hearst, NBC and ABC, acted swiftly to pull the leash on "Dog the Bounty Hunter," which was set to enter its fifth season in January.

"We take this matter very seriously," said A&E senior Vice President Michael Feeney. "Pending an investigation, we have suspended production on the series.''

In the tape recording, Chap man angrily tells his son Tucker that the young man shouldn't be dating his African-American girl friend - teacher Monique Shinnery.

More specifi cally, Chapman was upset that Shinnery's presence would prevent his crew from using racial slurs.

    "I don't care if she's a Mexican, a whore, whatever. It's not because she's black, it's because we use the word n- - - - - sometimes here," Chapman said.

    "I'm not going to take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for, for 30 years, because some f- - -ing n- - - - - heard us saying n- - - - -."

Chapman rationalized that he means no harm when he uses the slur.

    "It's that we use the word n- - - -. We don't mean, 'You f- - -ing scum n- - - - - without a soul,' " Chapman said.

"We don't mean that s- - -, but America would think we mean that."

Chapman is a Honolulu-based adventurer best known for his 2003 apprehension of serial rapist Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir who skipped to Mexico.

The Dog apologized last night, and said he was ripping the girlfriend's character and not her race.

"I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private conversation," Chapman said in his written apology.

"I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race but her character. However, I should have never used that term."

An African-American pal of Chapman's said he's tearful and devastated, and doesn't want to be compared to potty-mouthed shock jock Don Imus.

"In the time I've known him, I've never heard him use that word. When I heard the tape, I was shocked because that's not the person I know," said the Rev. Tim Storey, Chapman's pastor and self-described "life coach."

"He has always shown that he is a person of character and cares about all people. This is truly out of character. He is definitely not a racist. He said 'This now puts me in the category of Don Imus, and I'm not that guy.' "

Looks like this is NOT the first incident of racism!

    Dog’s Ex-Wife: “He’s A Racist” … and Other Family Members Agree!!!!
As Dog The Racist prepares to defend himself on TV and save his A&E show, his ex-wife and many close to him are coming forward and painting a disturbing picture about the hate-filled bounty hunter.

Dog’s vicious racial outburst came as a shock to many, but it came as no surprise to those who have known him for years. They claim he has been using racist language as long as they can remember.

“I think Dog is a racist – no question,” Dog’s former wife, Lyssa Chapman, tells The National Enquirer. Lyssa was married to the bounty hunter from 1982-1991 and is the mother of three of his children, including Tucker, whose relationship with a woman of color prompted Dog’s venomous rant.

“He ran down every single minority group when I was with him, and n—er was a daily word for him,” says his ex, Lyssa. “He called Mexican people ‘beaners’ or ‘wetbacks’ and Asian people ‘flangeheads.’ I would tell him not to talk that way in front of our kids, but he just ignored me.”

Lyssa recalled one particularly disturbing incident in Denver in which she says Dog lashed out at an interracial couple in a grocery store.

“Dog said to the woman, ‘I know that’s got to be your pimp! I know you wouldn’t be fucking him if you weren’t getting paid!’ They were husband and wife, but when the man started to object, Dog just went crazy, screaming at him, ‘I’ll kick your ass.’”

    Ewww!!!!

    What an ignorant prick!!!!

Dog also made his views clear to colleagues.

Peggy Munoz, now a private investigator in Lakewood, Colorado, was a former bail bondsman working the same turf as Dog from 1989 to 2005.

She claims Dog once sat in her office and explained his “approach” to the bail bond business.

“Dog said, ‘I don’t like to bond out n—-rs because they don’t have any money and I have trouble collecting on them. And I don’t like to bond out Mexicans because, well, they just run.’”

And, the final nail in his coffin….

Dog’s step-daughter Nicole Gillespie, daughter of one of his other ex-wives, Tawnee, says she regularly heard hateful language from Dog when she was growing up.

“My mother was half-Mexican, and if they fought, Dog would call her a ‘dirty spic whore’ and a ‘dirty Mexican slut,’” said Nicole. “That’s what he taught his kids was the right way to talk. When they got older, they had to un-learn the racism that Dog taught them. It’s sick. It’s like a disease, and it spreads.”

There’s not much explaining Dog can do.

By all accounts he’s a filthy racist!

You know, I've finally gotten to the point where, I realize racists just won't stop, and they refuse to acknowledge their behavior. so, instead of being gracious in the face of ignorance, which is what I have been, now, I'm just applying foot to ass from now on, I've had enough..

Those stories was from the ones of the tabs like the Enquirer. It seems it takes a recording to bring proof Dog said racist rants.

Why is this story still in the news? As far as I'm concerned, The Dog Crater face Chapman is getting free publicity by this story still being in circulation and the media keeps rehashing it over & over. He'll probably end up just like Imus, getting fired only to be re-hired again a few months from now.
