Guys, don't be pissed with me for asking this question (although feel free to giggle...) But, since white people change colour with the seasons, depending how sunny it is etc, is it the same for black people? I mean, all black people, not only those of a fairer skin hue, do even very dark black people go more black in the sun and conversely less black when they enter a colder climate? Or does the pigmentation of black skin colour remain constant? You should know I'm not asking the question to be racist or rude, but I'm just curious. Answers on a postcard please.
It all depends on the person... I knew someone who was dark brown-skinned, who then became DARKER after exposing himself to the sun in a pool full of chlorine. Imagine that... but, no matter what color you are, the sun can darken you.
I think I was basically wondering if conversely someone who was quite black and born in Africa would become fairer skinned in a cold climate, or do you never get more fair-skinned than the colour you were born with? (like white people)
As a Nigerian, I find that in this cold-ass Chicago, I have gotten a brown hue. In New Orleans, I was even darker under the near-tropical solar intensity.
My complexion is naturally more fair-skinned but being in California with all this sun, I tend to have a slightly darker complexion on my face and forearms. I'm pretty sure if I moved to Alaska, I would get pretty light complexion within a matter of months. And yes, like the other BM (or any race for that matter), I will get quite dark if I'm exposed to high heats from the sun all day or multiple days.
I've seen photos of my man from when he was still living in Nigeria and his skin definitely looks different. Not darker or lighter, but just a different tone.
No question...I'm "dark-chocolate" during the hot Texas summer and "milk chocolate" during the winter. I've got a Yoruba friend who is about Wesly Snipes' complexion but actually gets darker in the sun when my friends and I run wind sprints on the local track. Another layer to this question is that blacks tend to get darker through life.....most any BM on this board I bet was quite a few shades lighter at birth than now. I went from "yellow-bone" to "red-bone" to "sexual chocolate" (hopefully someone laughed at that)
This is actually a good question! And I never would have thought of it, until the very first time I noticed a change in my first black boyfriend's colour! We were in the bedroom and he took off his shirt and low and behold! He had a farmer's tan! I thought that was quite funny actually... well, cause farmers tans are funny on anyone. But I have never even thought it was possible for his skin to get any darker (or lighter, of course!) And since I like dark skin the best, I rather enjoyed when he was darker in the summer! 8)
I do too - I'm sorry if it is racist, but my boyfriend's skin just looks so EDIBLE! It's partly because he's very smooth and sleek as well as his resemblance to dark chocolate. He is going pale now, though, on his feet and his cheeks.
My baby is darker now than when she was born. One of my friends asked if I've been rubbing boot polish into her!
