After a NC substitute teacher overheard 9-year-old Emanyea tell another student a teacher was 'cute,' school officials put him on two-day suspension for sexual harassment, WSOC TV reported. The boy's mother, Chiquita Lockett, told the station she doesn't agree with the punishment. "It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way," Lockett told WSOC TV. "So why would he be suspended for two days?" The school's code of conduct doesn't list sexual harassment, but does mention possession of any gun, rifle, pistol, firearm, prohibited substance or assault of a school employee as grounds for long-term suspension. The incident comes after a 7-year-old Boston 1st-grader faces an investigation for sexual harassment after he allegedly struck another boy in the groin, the Boston Globe reported. The boy's mother Tasha Lynch, however, says her child was simply defending himself, and that the boy he struck had choked him in a previous incident. “I think my kid was right to fight back,’’ Lynch told the Globe. “He wasn’t doing anything except protecting himself.’’ Boston public schools spokesman Matthew Wilder told the publication that, although he could not give a comment, the school is carrying out an investigation to see who, if anyone, should be punished. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/...ual-harassment_n_1129683.html?ref=mostpopular **************************** What are we doing to our children?! This is PC madness on crack.
...A district spokeswoman said she could not go into detail, but said Emanyea was suspended for "inappropriate behavior" after making "inappropriate statements." The district's Code of Conduct doesn't list "inappropriate behavior," but says "disruption of school" is punishable by five days of out-of-school suspension. Lockett said Monday she received a certified letter from the school system explaining why her son's actions were considered sexual harassment.... ....In the letter, school officials say Emanyea Lockett said a teacher was fine in a suggestive tone. He said he told a friend she was cute. The district says the comment is considered a form of sexual harassment. Eyewitness News watched Chiquita Lockett go over the letter with her son on Monday. It says that he admitted to calling his teacher cute last Wednesday. School officials said in addition to the comment about the teacher, Emanyea had been warned about calling students bad words. They said all of the comments are inappropriate and violate the student code of conduct. His mother said she was never told about the other comments. Eyewitness News asked Emanyea specifically about them. “I didn’t use bad language about other students,” he said. “All you said is your teacher is cute?” Eyewitness News asked. “Yes,” he replied. “What's in that letter, what they accuse him about -- if that's true, I should have been notified about it,” Chiquita Lockett said. “And if so, then I would have seen where a suspension would have taken place.” http://www.wsoctv.com/news/29927381/detail.html <--video of interview with kid. *****************************************' Btw, they polled readers, here are the stats: Do you agree with the decision to suspend the boy? 21,000 responded..7% yes, 93% no.
Guaranteed the teacher is a young white woman. Shit like this makes me sick. It looks like we're going back to obvious racism in this country again
I'm scratching my head at this shit... ....and I'm trying to put the pieces together.... ....yet... ....they don't fit... Thus, I call this...crazy ass person syndrome or CAPS for short.
I agree. People like that have no business being teachers IMO. That crap does nothing but damage to a young, impressionable mind. "Teachers" like that not only ruin school for children, doing the jacked up crap they do to children can traumatize them.
Any excuse is a good excuse to hold one back... In this instance wasting time and money on a "no harm, no foul" second hand comment suggests we have leaned overboard in the wrong direction to make examples of innocent children expressing harmless natural childhood fantasies. IMO, where wiser heads (namely, school administrators supposedly trained to and accustomed to dealing with adolescent boys and or girls) would have prevailed, stupid, reared its ugly head.... And stupid is as stupid does... My mother used to take me to a barber to get the "baldy bean", something a few of my kindergarden classmates found an inviting target. One day, while making cookies and sitting on the floor in front of the piano, one hand too many popped me on the head and I caught the offending hand and bit the shit out of it... I was suspended for a week and the "victim's" parents threatened a lawsuit, but nobody hit my "baldy bean" again....
The teacher just filed the complaint. Let's not absolve the administrators who deemed suspension as an appropriate course of action.
She is a student teacher?? That might explain her stupidity. What kid doesn't have a teacher crush/talk about a crush on a teacher. This is going too far.
I think they might have meant substitute teacher? I remember there was a rumor floating around in my high school about a substitute teacher who was giving the students blowjobs in class. :smt107
Talk about rules being turned upside down! It is racism since this Black kid did not talk about having sex with a teacher. That mother should sue that school and that teacher.
:smt042:smt042:smt042:smt042 She better not move up to middle school teaching. Students will talk about wanting to fuck her(Assuming she's attractive).
