The stats are so sad. Good men who are Black are endangered and targets from many directions. I'm sure some of the stats of the dead Black men were bad seeds; a.k.a killers themselves, but I'm betting way more innocent Black men make up the bulk of the murdered victims.
And lots of racists are very happy that the self-extermination exists. They've long moved away and gleefully watch from the sidelines.

 

And that is exactly why you have many people thinking that racism overall is a thing of the past because racists don't engage in a lot of the physical types of attacks the way they did in days past. They can now do things on more subtle and non violent levels.

 

Why is it when black people kill each other itself extermination but when other groups do its just murder or gang violence. Why are we as a group burdened with benevolent responsibility to take care of the race? Is this not another racial burden based on nothing except shared skin color. They don't call what those guys are doing in Ireland self extermination. I wonder why.

 

It's simple to figure out why....

For comparison sake, Ireland in 2007 had 85 murders (six were manslaughter). Pop; 6 million.
Same year, Philly had 337 murders, pop; 1.5 million (in '09 = 302, '10 = 306, '11= 324).

If you do the math, per the same population number, we'd have to multiply Philly's rate by 4 to get a fairer estimate, or divide Irelend's rate by 4 to get a fairer one for them.

The rates of death are highly disproportionate, which could be interpreted as extermination levels.

Roughly 5% of the Philly male pop aged 18-24 is white... they accounted for 4% of those murdered.
In contrast 4% of Philly's Black male pop. aged 18-24 they accounted for 48% of those murdered.
That's a 44% disparity in deaths by race.

You can certainly look at is as nothing except shared skin color, but others, particularly those who share it, would like to address it as something deeper going on…because the odds are 44% greater they could become a statistic.

 

becoming a 'statistic' was a real live thing for me growing up, as my mom definitely made sure that I focused on school and stayed indoors when she was not around

Btw your last sentence made it sound to me as if I didn't share the same skin color. I would agree its systemic of a bigger problem and that's black male unemployment but when you make the argument these people are being pushed towards killing each other because they are black it loses credibility to me. I would agree that these men do end up killing people within their geographic confines because those are the ones most immediate to them.
And the problem with certain statistics is they make things seem worst than they are sometimes. Whites out number blacks 6 to 1 so the same amount people could be dying (not saying that's the case here) but one demographic looks far worst because of population size.

to top things off i spent the majority of my childhood in the projects, so things were much more real to me. I think I turned out alright so far, and definitely didn't become a statistic that was dead, on drugs, or in jail. I just stayed to myself, fought when I needed to fight, and hit the books harder than everyone else.

not to out do you but our county tried to by a tank to kill black people. The chief reason why they didn't do it was because it was too expensive. This was back in the day though.

Perhaps self-extermination was the incorrect word. My error. I should have used black on black murder.

- My last line did not discount you being Black. It reflected that there are others (all races) and in particular -(other) Black people - who see it as much more.

- I never alluded to or said at all "they are being pushed towards killing each other". Please show me.

- Your theory about them killing demographically/immediate accessibility isn't the issue here. It's the rate of it (the % rate overall). According to CDC stats, for every 1 white murdered, 6 Black are murdered.

- I initially worded the Philly crime stats confusingly - I adjusted it to make it clearer showing the same % population stat. You now see the same % of men in both colors; of those murdered, 5% were White young men, 48% were Black young men.

To your last sentence, I'm sure if we did as you suggested - added the total U.S numbers, yes the total number is greater for White (197 million White/38 million Black)...however ratio-wise (1-6) the Black pop. fairs worse.

 

I find it hard to believe no black men were involved in this crime.

My problem with this right here is it suggests some type of predisposition as if there is some type of extermination program or we're the only ones who naturally kill our "own kind".
One could read that and ask well why don't Asians commit that many murders or whites or Native Americans. See my point?
To me this is parallel to the black employment issue. Get them to work and the numbers will be reduced incredibly.
