http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7936115.stm This is scary! I can't believe the scale of drug related murder/violence that happens there. 186 people were decapitated in 2008! I really don't know what Mexico can do to stop this, I bet most police officers would refuse to deal with the drug dealers. It doesn't look like they'd have any qualms about killing officers. Sarkozy is said to have offered Mexico help in their war against drugs [Source:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7934889.stm] 1000 murders already this year. Mexico is somewhere I definitely don't want to visit anymore.
The drug wars in Mexico are mainly due to Cocaine smuggling. Here's an illustration of what I'm talking about:
What we see in Mexico was created by the power vacuum when the US went after the Columbian drug lords. It is a direct result of our success in that country.
Well it's principally related to the death and/or arrest of most of the brothers who ran the Tijuana (Arrellano-Felix) cartel. With them sidelined or dead, their lieutenants have taken to the gun, machete, and rope to seize control of the drug smuggling routes into North America. I used to drive down to Mexico (about 2 1/2 hours from L.A.) at least twice a year, but haven't been since 2006.
All of this is the direct result of the draconian War on Drugs which has been waged in this country for over 30 years
You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait until the government of Mexico falls to the narco terrorists/criminals. You will see an invasion of millions. The death of the United States as we know it.
By the way why make it an issue with the Mexicans, the muslims are now doing this to their women here in the United States.
Uh yeah, there have hundreds of beheadings in Mexico in the past couple of years and over 6,000 civilians killed by the cartels in the past year. The largest criminal organizations in the country have even more men and better weapons than the Mexican army. Mexico is on the verge of becoming a narco-state, so this is actually a much bigger issue than fundamentalist Muslim terrorists or one whacked out TV station owner who murdered his wife.
Yeah. The cartels may have the power to overthrow the Mexican government, but they don't stand a chance against the US military, especially, the Air Force. Also, the Cartels footsoldier number in the hundreds of thousands not "millions." Cool it with the fear mongering. No one is going to invade the US and overthrow our government. Try opening up a paper that isn't a ring wing rag for a change.
The Mexican government has always been 99% corrupt. There is no way to win a drug war because the market is too big. They will just end up getting a new corrupt president that will look the other way like the previous leaders. A good way to temporarily win this war is seal off the cities with walls patrolled by UAV's. And then do full sweeps back and forth with UAV's patrolling previously swept territory.Killing every drug cartel member they find.
