They were over-sentenced. 20 years for cheating, a non-violent crime??? I bet they're eligible for parole in like 3 years. It's Atlanta, they were charged a crazy sentence like they killed someone, hm. I didn't even have to click the link, I know most if not all those teachers are Black. If they'd embezzled $5 mil from the Atlanta school system I doubt they get 20 years in jail.
How the heck does this happpen in a city where the population is over 50% black. Some of those folks need to get their crap together.
They haven't been sentenced yet, I don't think. But even if they get convicted then the judges know that they won't serve the majority of that time. That's most likely what's going to happen. The sentencing judges know how the parole system works and in Georgia, it's pretty lenient.
