Just had to put my tuppence in for this...

So before you call me a Bible-thumping old bastard, I just wanna have ya consider this:

After American Western society has taken generations, decads, centuries, millenia, etc. to religiously evolve from pagan worship traditions such as snakes, beads, & wooden idols (for the most part, anyway) to Christianity..

There's *still* a need to continue pursuing a tradition of staking the fates of more winter snow for 2-3 more months based on....whether or not a
    groundhog sees his shadow...

It just smacks of a Modern Day kind of soothsayer false doctrine, now doesn't it?

A paradox, it is...and kinda humourous, too....that in these so-called enlightened times...these folks who stake the future in Grandhog Day are more pagan than the unbelieving pagans themselves!

A lot of modern traditions, including many associated with Christianity, actually come from pagan roots.

Though I'm as open minded about religion as I am everything else, I wish more people actually understood the history behind major "Christian" holidays and such. But telling people doesn't accomplish anything because so many will refuse to believe the truth because they've already accepted the false explanation.

As for Groundhog Day...all it ever has meant to me is the anniversary of my parents' wedding. That's about it.
