    I look at my dad's health issues and his being old before his time, and I know I don't ever want to end up like that. The very thought scares the shit out of me.

    The pain and suffering that usually comes before ur time is up, is what makes people so afraid

    And the way some futurist like Ray Kurzweil and Dr. Kaku talk life extension is right around the corner.

    We ruin shit and bring death because we run the scarcity gambit. I often wonder what happens when the bulk of your needs and want are met through technology. What happens when you don't have to fear old age or death. What happens when you don't have to compete for resources.

    That's short sighted thinking. We as a developed country consume nearly 25% of all the resources produced while the bottom 4 billion barely hit 5%
    There's enough to go around and there's space exploration to consider or the very real possibility that people will reproduce less if they plan to live longer and need to take care of their needs. What if we didn't social security anymore consider that.

    Actually the reason for the continued population rise through out the world is because a lot of the world still farms and produce a lot of kids to help with the farm. If don't have to work the land to ensure your survival people don't statistically have many kids. Don't let media sway you actually look at data points fam.
