100th Anniversary of Jack Johnson win

    To the Aussie members I hope you can find articles on the 100th Anniversary of Jack Johnson's win against Tommy Burns on Boxing Day,1908. It may not be important to most in the USmedia but, in this community it is a milestone.

    That dude was awesome

    aside from the fact that he was physically abusive to his wife

    the dude was,amazing.He sure did have balls back then,openly messing around with white women and not being afraid of the repercussions.
    They use to chant racial epithets at him while he was fighting,but dude just smiled and proved their little superiority theory wrong,one white boxer at a time.

    7pm today

    At 7pm EST(11am Oz) the fight had begun. One can imagine some of the Blacks at the telegraph office hearing of the Johnson/Burns fight via dots and dashes. When it was over there was no doubt partying. A great present on that Christmas night.
