Her name was removed from marriage certficates, and the judge warned her to not interfere with future gay marriages.

    - Federal judge David Bunning, who jailed Davis on Thursday in a contempt-of-court ruling, lifted his sanctions on her Tuesday

-Rowan County, Kentucky decided to remove the evangelical court clerk's name from its preprinted marriage certificates

    - New court order means she will see more jail or other 'appropriate sanctions' if she interferes with the gay marriage licenses in the future

    - Her lawyers had appealed in the hope that she would be released

    - Presidential candidates on the GOP's right wing had rushed to defend her as a prisoner of conscience, persecuted for opposing gay marriages

I applaud her for wanting to abide by her beliefs, but had it been me, I would have stepped down from my position instead of causing this circus. If I'm hired under one set of rules or laws and those change then it would be on me to either accept the new rules/laws or find a new job. I guess I wouldn't make a very good martyr. :smt102

I'm glad sober heads found the right solution, although in many cases she would have been fired.

She's lucky she still has her job.

When your personal beliefs interfere with individual civil rights, using religion as a shield is a cop out.

The only thing left now is to work the talk-show and lecture circuit and write books about her "oppression." It's time to milk that martyrdom for every last dime, nickel, and penny!

    Oh you know she will.

No one wouldnt be on her side if she refused to marry divorce people. Christ spoke on that heavily.

Indeed. And sadly, what people fail to realize is that people are advocating her to exercise religious privilege as opposed to religious liberty. She shouldn't hold this position, knowing very well that she's in a secular job.

Also, given that she's part of the Apostolic Christian Church, she already broke one of her own rules in this debacle.

    17. Governmental authority is respected and obeyed. Members serve in a non-combatant status in the military. Oaths are not taken, but truth is affirmed.

    Matthew 22:21
    Luke 3:14
    Romans 13:1-10
    1 Timothy 2:1-2
    Hebrews 12:14
    James 5:12
    1 Peter 2:12-14

While rule 18 reinforces their position on marriage, it it not a government authority, thus it should not have been conflicted.

Make that two (that we know of):

    18. Marriage is a lifelong union ordained of God in which a man and a woman of like mind, faith, and fellowship are united in the Lord in Holy Matrimony.

    Mark 10:9
    1 Corinthians 7:39
    Ephesians 5:21-33
    Colossians 3:18-19
    Titus 2:2-6
    1 Peter 3:1
    1 Peter 3:7

If God can forgive her for her many divorces and remarriages over the years, why can't he forgive her for respecting governmental authority?

It's the schizophrenic mentality of a so-called god. Seems more like a flawed entity the more you read into the mentality of a god. Seems like a king with no comprehension skills on what it means to be...human.

Jailing her made her a martyr. I mentioned that in the RC thread. Someone had an agenda here, and I couldn't figure out which side (Likely both).

There's no act of heroism in this case, thus a farcry from being a martyr. There would have to be a legitimate, rational basis for her to go against it besides simply just a religious reason. Denying marriage licenses for gay couples is pure stupidity on her part. Her liberties were not violated, plus she went against one of her own rules within her church, which she likely failed to read. There's a clear distinction between exercising religious liberty, and exercising a privilege. In this case, the privilege to discriminate on an irrational concept.

As a person who issue licenses in a secular government, she knew very well that should this happen, she could have took the smart route and removed herself from that position, knowing that she is too arrogant to uphold such a task.

Read the thread dude. ...Your boy MS never misses an opportunity to mock or discredit God. .....it is a damn shame..

He was discrediting G-d he was discrediting the woman.

The woman was making a mockery of G-d.

If ms was making a mockery then why pay attention to him cause you know what hes about. The worst player is the one who claims christianity but exercise hate and using G-d for fame.

Shes a pharisee. She has been divorced three times and had an affair. According to the bible she shouldnt get married.

If i knew her backround and was in her position would you back me or all those people at the rally back me if i did what she did.

Would u back me if i denied a marriage certificate to a couple who had different sex partners before they got together.

I dont think people would back me.. the same people who are backing her know would have tried to justify marrying in those scenerios.

Move on, nothing to see here folks

She is just a fame hungry cow looking for her 15 mins

She works for the city government she should abide by their rule, it is her damn job to provide marriage certificate then should have done it. The highest court in the land is allowing gays to be married, so what is her beef? If that does not sit well with her then she should step down from her position.

All these pseudo Christians attending her rally including Huckabee and Cruz just wanting to get the bible thumbers votes, that's all. Fools this is not 1815 it's 2015
