Lost Sketches by J. Scott Campbell Jack Desmond Ben Richard Charlie Sawyer Locke Sun & Jin Sayid Claire Kate Hurley There are other characters I wish he'd done, but it looks like he only did the main ones, at least those are the only ones I've found so far.
At first glance I did too. It's stunning! I did a little digging and found the artist's profile on deviantart. The painting is "Raggiana Bird of Paradise" by ConceptualMachina (a.k.a. Al Dayan). I like this one too (I don't know what he called it though):
Clearly a death themed piece based on the dark tone as well as the watch and I would assume raven skull symbolism.
Yeah, the face also looks like one of those old plague masks, but according to the artist it isn't quite what it seems. I found a couple of comments he made about this particular work: "Woah...i kinda forgot to upload this. did this a while ago between gigs. based on an old creature design i came up with in high school called the Lamp Lighter. was originally a pudgy Jabba the Hut character, but i decided to give it a more Keith Thompson vibe." In response to someone with similar thoughts to ours about the work: "Al Dayan cheers Blake. i can see why you'd say that actually, but this fella's meant to be a neutral/good dude. he just hops around and lights lamps for people along the way." Maybe the creepy look is just more suited to a night roaming character. That's what I like about art though; to the viewers it means whatever their response to it interprets it to be.
Hmm. Interesting. It does help when artists put down their thought process behind a particular work or just explain what the piece is. Especially if a piece isn't self explanatory from simple viewing.
If you ask me, visual arts don't get enough love In school, it was always about who played the violin or the piano and how smart/bright they were The visual artists in the school didn't receive such positive stereotyping, even tho they could reproduce images in their mind with great fidelity
Shit, at least you had visual arts in your school. They didn't even have basic drawing or even drafting classes of any kind back when I was in elementary through high school. People use to look at you as if you were an alien or something if you had any artistic talent whatsoever. People who liked or wrote poetry of any kind had it worse though. Especially any dudes. They would get stuck with those punk or sissy labels. SMH.
