 are expecting their first child in March. I knew he was in an IR marriage but didn't know she was this pretty:Here's some more info on them*... *Derek Luke has a movie opening in theaters this weekend and a new baby set to make its big debut in March 2007. The actor, who got his big break starring in 2002’s “Antwone Fisher,” has announced to People magazine that he and his wife, actress Sophia Luke, are expecting their first child together. According to Luke’s rep, the baby is due in early March. Luke and Sophia (born Sophia Adella Hernandez) married in 1998. He brought her on stage with him when he won the Independent Spirit Award for best actor ("Antwone Fisher") and promptly handed over the statue to her. Luke opens tomorrow in the critically-acclaimed political thriller “Catch a Fire,” which is set in turbulent 1980s South Africa and stars the actor as Patrick Chamusso, who became a political prisoner for crimes that he didn’t commit.
Derek is by FAR one of the best young actors working in Hollywood and I am so proud of him and happy for this couple. She is HOTTT! His performance in Antwone Fisher was one of the things that inspired me to become an actor. He was also good in Pieces of April as Katie Holmes' boyfriend. They had a sexy IR love scene in that film. This was before she got with Tom Cruise and was still known as the girl from Dawson's Creek. Something told me he was involved in IR but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the photos...
 Here's so more info on DL's new film Catch A Fire... The Real Life South African Hero Patrick Chamusso speaks By Marie Moore (October 27, 2006) *Derek Luke plays the real life South African hero in "Catch a Fire." Fortunately, just as Nelson Mandela was around to tell his story, Patrick Chamusso's real life saga is now at theaters. When writers first approached Chamusso, however, he did not think his story was worthy of the big screen since he did not spend nearly as long as Mandela did in prison. "I wanted this story to be told so that people like me, the common man like me knows that everyone is important in the space of this universe," Charmusso explained. It's not only those with money that are important. If a man down there where we're not even counted sees this film, it will be very important to them. In the place that I live, there is not even any running water. It's very poor there." Charmusso is very proud of the film. "I was very impressed with how accurate the story was and I'm very proud that the story is being told while I'm still around. Even though Tim [Robbins] enacts the viciousness that was done, I think he did that so that the film would be able to be watched, people could stomach it." One of the themes of the film is forgiveness, which Charmusso found was necessary. "Although I was sentenced to 24 years in prison, I was there for only ten," he stated. Two to three years I was very angry. There were those sentenced 30 years to life. So I told myself it's not good to be angry. I got involved in political discussions on a daily basis. We came to the conclusions that let us forgive these people because we made examples of Mozambique, Zimbabwe and those countries which are not doing well because of their anger. Why can't we just forgive these people to show them that we're not as vicious as they thought. We came to the decision that it's good to forgive someone. If you forgive someone you will live in peace." In addition to being a part of a movement that freed his people from apartheid, Chamusso has established a home for orphaned children. "I have a website, www.twosisters.org.za and an e-mail Patrick@twosisters.org.za," he says. "Some of the most important necessities for the children are food and medicine for their treatments. People can assist me financially with enabling me to be able to feed them, to educate them, to get a bigger house to accommodate them because the house that I have is too small for the number of children that I take in." Are you listening Madonna?
Yeah they are going on nine years of marriage. Im glad derek luke is in this critically acclaimed movie that just might get him that deserving oscar nod. (maybe even a win.) He is one of the very few black actors, maybe the only one who has said that interracial should be portrayed more in films, and that he would like to step up in more roles like the one in "Pieces of April".
Hey folks, Sophia is a very sexy, funny, hella cool and down to earth woman. I knew her before she married Derek, she's dated a few brothers prior to Derek including one of buddies who she was in love with but he drop the ball and Derek picked it up. Also she was much smaller is size, like a size 2 or 3 so she's picked up the weight since being married but she's still a very beautiful woman and I truly wish them much sucess.
