Is WM/BW interracial on tv replacing BM/WW relationships?

WHICH all that tells you is outside of her, there isn't that much diversity of writers.

I hear you, but in addition to pandering to its consumers, television is also a vehicle for socialization and reflecting back at the society its acceptable imagery and narrative. At a subconscious level it still reflects the preconceptions and biases of its largely white male ownership and creative/production structure. Their stories are the ones that have value, their stories are the ones that are worth watching, and they're the ones that get made. With few exceptions we are all generally regarded as bit players in their narrative.

As for the "stealing all our good men" thinking, that's usually a feature of threatened or minority groups in society toward what they see as the prerogatives and freedom from consequences of white life and power in society, and the sense that as beleaguered group members who are defined by our mutual oppression, we should stick together. But other groups do it too. I've heard more than a few Jewish women complain about 'shicksa' women (white, non-Jewish, especially blondes) stealing their men, and obviously as it relates to African-American women and Latinas.

I think some white American women are intimidated by foreign women because of the fact that these women were not brought up with the American attitudes on gender roles. Women from these countries like South America, Eastern Europe and Asia see things differently. They want to be the helpmate of these husbands and they do not want to be in competition with them on any level. More family time and less career. Some would see that as subservience, but it is not so. The marriage rate for foreign marriages has gone up some. Mostly from white males and Asian women. Russian women come second and Latinas come at third place. I may be wrong about these stats because it may have changed since 2000.

 

And once again, it's WM/BW interracial. From now, I'm just not really seeing that as a progressive move no matter who does it. Seems very much the easy way out. When they finally make that romantic comedy with Idris Elba starring opposite Charlize Theron, that to me will indicate the media taking a real risk and pushing the envelope.

 

That article might be progressive but it also shows the same problem that was introduced earlier in this thread. Which is turning the black male's ir couple into a gay one so it doesn't offend wm readers.

I have been surprised by just how much bedroom interracial sex there has been on CBS's new hit show "Hostages" starring Brian White. Its a pretty good show guys.

 

Stop with the strawman arguments. I was responding to a post regarding the type of choices and preferences of VIEWERS. Who is running programming behind the scenes is a worthy discussion but has nothing to do with the post I was directly addressing.

 

And you wouldn't exactly be wrong. a few years back, according to an online article by that very same site, Archie comics had one or two different attempts at pairing a black male character with white female characters.The attempts were cut off short both times. I saved the article somewhere (probably have it on my cloud) but I can't exactly recall if the relationships were broken up because of negative fan feedback or because someone higher up in the Archie Corp. thought it was a bad idea. Regardless the relationships were scrapped. Fast forward to 2013 and they have Archie, the actual main icon of the franchise, married to a black woman. Yes, it is a future scenario and they done that stuff before without the events actually coming to fruition (remember: Archie and his pals must stay forever sixteen so it isn't as if ten years from now this scenario will be playing out). Nonetheless I can not imagine that company ever hooking up Veronica or Betty with a black male character.

If you take a closer look at the link you will see a picture of the cover story of two gay characters blissfully getting married with one of those gay characters being a black dude. That cements what I wrote earlier: the pairing of a black man with a white man is in some respects less controversial and risky than pairing a black man with a white woman.

Also take note of the sex of Archie and Valerie's future child. Instead of going the typical route of giving a male icon an male child to follow in daddy's footsteps, Archie's baby is a girl. This should come as no surprise. When I see media in America (and that includes advertisers who run ads in newspapers and magazines) present to us children of a black-white union it is typically a girl. The mixed-race black girl is far less threatening to white men and can even be considered a potential mate down the road for white men. As a result her image is more commonly represented than black boys who are from mixed marriages (who could pose as rivals for the affection of white women themselves down the road when they come of age). This habit of presenting a black girl for a couple is especially true when the couple being presented is a black man and a white woman. It is bad enough for some to see the image of a black male with a white female, but there is a double sting when the child they produce is a boy. That says that the woman's primary loves are both black males (father and son).

I really don't want to stoop to bitchin' about Archie comics but I just thought I'd bring up those points. Over a decade ago some guy, I think he was a gay Hispanic took over the Wonder Woman comic book. He introduced a black male character, a regular Joe, who ended up becoming Wonder Woman's lover/boyfriend. And she was very committed to him and even met often with his goofy family. Oh, man comic book readers HATED that character. And not because he was some annoying fool who needed to be saved every other day. No, they hated that character because he was black. Though they didn't always come out and say that. They would say things such as "Wonder Woman would not fall in love with that guy". We all know what that means. Anyway when that writer/artist left the WW franchise the people who replaced him did the bidding of the fans by killing the black male character. They could have just as easily let him move on to a new life, but nope; they made sure that n****r was dead.

 

Archie comics have been around since the late 1940's. Some time ago, Betty and Veronica had appeared in a Tiujuana Bible. Tiujuana Bibles are comic books that show popular comic strip characters in compromising situations, mostly sexual. In one story, Betty and Veronica were depicted as lesbians until two black guys show up and have sex with them. Right now, there is at least one black male character included. There was even a gay male character, too.

 

I think you're right about the foreign women issue. When I have heard anger expressed, it's generally about (esp. w/Asian women) their supposed 'subservience' and how the guys who do it are doing it because they can't handle a strong woman (sound familiar? lol). I'm sure there's some subservience and fetishization, but there is probably also a lot of attraction and interest in a diffferent culture and the way they conduct interpersonal relationships.

I'm still mad about them only kissing in Hancock, lol. Oh well, Jason Bateman's cool, so I'll live.

Yep, this notion, especially what is in bold, is always in the back of my head. Every single time you see a interracial couple with a child in the media,the child will 9/10 will be a girl. It's like its the status quo when it comes to these pairing. Notice that this type of pairing for this particular comic book will generate little to no hate mail when they pair the titular character with a bw. The armchair race warriors don't see this as a L for the white race. They see it as a L for black men for seeing a wm having lasting and healthy relationship and a child with "our" women. One less for us and another "white is right" scenario for them.

You can take this a step further for the lack or no hate generated on Youtube videos when a bw expresses her love for wm or bw/wm pairings, but when a ww does it, or if she is paired with a bm, then tons of the race warriors (and bw) come in droves and try to discredit their relationship or her in any way shape or form. These same people who bash ww for getting with bm are the same ones who silently approve for bw for singing praises for wm. You will NEVER see these internet racists slam bw for getting with them. Because these same racists be the ones that be fucking them. This is why I don't understand their are Black MEN who slam ww or bm for dating out. If they know the full dynamics, then they really do look FOOLISH in slamming bm who date out. These whiteboys and black women know the politics of sex and race, and black men are always slow to catch on.

Well, the rest isn't history yet.
Society rejects the Brown-McClain relationship, but not for race reasons. He is an inmate, and until Feb. 9, she was one of his jail guards. On that date, the deputy's often-proved affection for her pro-Nazi paramour ended tragically.
McClain found herself in handcuffs when fellow deputies arrested her on suspicion of intensely pleasuring an Orange County Skinhead, or some similar charge. Never mind that the OC Skins are vicious soldiers (along with ***********0000ff]Public Enemy Number One Death Squad[/color] and Nazi Low Riders) in the ***********0000ff]Aryan Brotherhood[/color]'s murderous underworld empire; deputies aren't allowed to have sex with inmates even when it's consensual.
For her protection (or was it to deny other white-supremacist inmates the chance for unexpected bliss?), McClain was booked in the Santa Ana city jail and released from custody on her own recognizance. The DA's office is investigating prior to making a formal decision on charges.
In the wake of McClain's arrest, ***********0000ff]Jim Amormino[/color], an OCSD spokesman, told reporters the deputy and an unidentified inmate had "sex more than once." Sources tell the Weekly it happened at least 20 times and included every type of intercourse imaginable—and allegedly even took place inside a guard station.
If the allegations are true, the illicit sex muddies the sheriff's badge practically soiled several years ago by ***********0000ff]Mike Carona[/color], our onetime horn-dog sheriff turned convicted felon and federal-prison resident.
***********0000ff]Tom Dominguez[/color], president of the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs (AOCDS), felt the need to issue a statement. "The allegations being made against one of our own are very serious," he said in a prepared media statement. "It is my understanding the deputy has fully cooperated with investigators. We are confident that the investigation will be thorough, and we anticipate a fair and just outcome."
It's not surprising AOCDS would come to McClain's aid and comfort. But Brown—who remains goo-goo-eyed about his favorite deputy—is full of surprises. He chose for his upcoming March trial—drum roll, please—a Jewish criminal defense lawyer.
