I would suggest, make a lifestyle change. I turn 46 next month, I feel much better now than I did when I was 40 years of age. At our age, we don't digest food when we where in our twenties. I would start by eating less and do more cardio. If you got a gym membership, don't kill yourself trying to get fit, make a plan, set goals for your yourself.

Define Your Priorities, Goals, Passion, and Purpose

    Romeo,
Before starting any new endeavor, define WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ROMEO AND WHAT SHOULD BE IMPORTANT TO ROMEO. For example, "I know I should not smoke; yet, I am not willing to develop the intestinal fortitude to quit smoking. Smoking is a priority I am not willing give up; therefore, this priority is conflicting with any fitness program."

Will current priorities and my environment negatively affect my desire to develop a fitness program and healthy lifestyle? If my priorities and environment negatively affect my desire to develop a healthy lifestyle, what REALISTIC CHANGES can I make, in order to have a successful fitness program and healthy lifestyle?

What are my SPECIFIC HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND FITNESS GOALS? Do my SPECIFIC HEALTHY LIFESTYLE GOALS serve humanity and the world? Our goals should be selfless and benevolent. Simply deciding to "lose weight" is a not a SPECIFIC GOAL! When a couple plans a wedding, does the couple just have "wedding"?

Does a fitness program and healthy lifestyle enhance my passions? For example, I have a passion for sex with my wife; therefore, romance vigor, and virility are important to me. Having a sound fitness program and healthy lifestyle enhance my romance, vigor, and virility.

What is your purpose for having a fitness program and healthy lifestyle? In another example, if Romeo is starting a fitness program due to age and appearance, may I suggest these purposes will not help Romeo overcome the challenges and obstacles that will present themselves, while performing a fitness program and living a healthy lifestyle. A purpose should enhance the life of Romeo and the world. Shallow purposes leave humans unfulfilled.

NEVER ATTACH TO OR DEFINE YOURSELF BY YOUR GOALS, PRIORITIES, PASSIONS, PURPOSES, AND VOCATIONS. I have observed many wounded military personnel who had a 'purpose', until he or she is blind, paralyzed, and or suffered amputation. STAY HUMBLE!!!

Finally, once you have defined your priorities, goals, passion, and purpose, Romeo is ready to develop fitness program and healthy lifestyle that enhance Romeo priorities, goals, passions, and purpose. DEVELOPING GOOD HABITS AND GOOD MOTIVATION ARE ESSENTIAL TO SUCCESS!

As a strength and conditioning coach, I make sure the athletes I instruct and train define her or his goals, priorities, passion, and purpose. If an athlete cannot define her or his goals, priorities, passion, and purpose, I refuse to train and instruct her or him, because there can be no beginning and no accomplishment(s),

I did a lot of asking around and found a wonderful personal trainer who does not charge a ridiculous amount of money. This works better for me because if I join a gym, I just kinda wander around with no real plan. Having the trainer has been great. I highly recommend it if you can do it. My trainer knows my strengths and weaknesses and designs exercise programs that are beneficial to ME. So pleased to be working out now.

I absolutely wish I could do this. I need that good kick in the pants, for one thing. Just lazy when it comes to working out. I had a trainer for about 8 weeks years ago when I lived in Virginia Beach. But I can't begin to afford that now.

I understand. It can be expensive, but the way I look at it is I spend money on all kinds of crap. This is important and will help me save on medical bills!! I am not very disciplined at all. If I don't have someone pushing me, I won't exercise. I really HAVE to do this......

    RestlessRita,
Thank you for understanding the concept of "pay now or pay later". Yes, I charge a lot of money for personal training/strength and conditioning/lifestyle coaching, because I am very good at what I do and I place the needs and cares of my clients/athletes, as a top priority. Furthermore, I save my clients/athletes a lot of money, in terms medical costs and lawyer fees, while encouraging personal responsibility, humility, benevolence, love, and meaningful relationships. Also, I do not want my clients/athletes to stay with me forever, because being self-sufficient and motivated is a must!!!! With me, a client/athlete gets her or his monies worth and a lot more!!!!

I make the above statement with great confidence and greater humility, because the more I know, the more I realize I do not know!!!

See, I don't have the money to spend on all kinds of stuff. If I did, I would cut back or give up that stuff and get a trainer. I know it would be worth it.

Where is your faith? Are you familiar with the biblical passage of Philippians 4:13? I am not stating beginning and maintaining a physical fitness/healthy lifestyle program is not challenging.

May I offer another way to view your lack of desire to exercise? Unless you have some serious health issues, YOU ARE UNINTENTIONALLY BEING SELFISH AND ARROGANT. When humans are lazy and unmotivated, in any area of life, we deny this world our special gifts and talents; therefore, this arrogant and selfish behavior hurt others. We were put on this earth to fulfill an ordained destiny, regardless of how we feel. If we cannot stay motivation with the 'minor' issues, blessing and responsibility in life, how can we manage the greater blessings in life?

You seem like a trainer's trainer. I was thinking about swimming the beach with a 20 pound backpack, and I need someone in a boat yelling at me. lol

Very very very rarely do I yell! Yelling, unless there is an emergency, displays a lack of personal control.

I love to motivate people to motivate themselves!!!
