And here I normally head for the zucchini, carrot, cucumber or parsnip section of the fresh produce section of the supermarket.

    Maybe they're just 'misunderstood'?

Hey Max, I've heard women mention this characteristic, too. Do you think that's true?

Hey ladies, is it true that women focus on what other women think/want in mate selection, or do they only think about what makes them happy? And I don't mean to generalize, just asking.

They select their mate according to their mates only if they're immature and ridiculous and need the approval of others. I think this could be said about both women and men

I also heard that about women dressing for other women, almost like it was some sort of competition.

I think that has more to do with the fact that women appreciate fashion whilst men appreciate TALs

Personally, what other women think/want doesn't even cross my mind when it comes to my interest in a man or to what appeals to me in a man. I have known women (& men) who do focus on that (& other stupid/shallow shit) though.

Tarshi summed up those people's issues quite nicely.

Ive been on this forum long enough to know that true or not, nobody's going to admit it.

That said, its more of a subconscious thing, not something women give a shred of thought to. Also, generalizing isnt supposed to include ALL women, but most IMO. And to varying levels of importance depending on the particular woman. Its not an ALL or nothing MATTER. And its not the ONLY thing that matters to women. Lots of men and women in this thread have mentioned other things as well.

I know that A LOT of women are like that.
That's why men think if they are flirting with several women at the same time, it makes them more interesting.

For me it's the exact opposite. If I see that another woman (ore multiple women) get exactly the same attention and compliments, the guy is out of consideration for me.
I remember meeting my first bf in school. Girls told me "he never had a girlfriend before. He is boring, what do you see in him?"
I couldn't care less. He was caring and sweet and I was totally into him.

But for the other girls he got wayyyy more interesting after I was with him and one girl even tried to break us up, so Max may have a point here.

    To answer the original question:
For me a man's stock drops when he stopps taking care of his outer appearance, when he stopps being curious about life in general and has no plans or dreams for the future.
Smoking, excessive drinking and other unhealthy habits are another big turnoff for me.

Yeah, I strongly agree with this.

Speaking only about looks, guys have it better in this regard, I think. A guy can stay good looking for a very long time, if they work out a lot. I've seen guys in their 50s who looked like they were in their 20s if they took good care of their bodies.

But that's all dependent on working out a lot. Basically what it comes down to is this: keeping a very fit, muscular body can keep guys looking great for a long time. This isn't quite as true for women, in my opinion, because most guys don't want a girl who is bulky and highly muscular the way girls do with guys (not that girls shouldn't work out at all, just that most guys don't seem to want a hulk). It means most guys can keep their looks longer than most girls can.

Awesome point ladies! Cherokee, I've gone through that with a couple of men [men losing jobs and feeling sorry for themselves to the point where it's unbearable], and it's the most agonizing thing in the world! This would have to be my reason for a man's stock dropping.

    Super topic, NorthSide!

So is it better to just leave if a man just leaves after losing his job?
