i would feel exactly the same way that i feel about them now.

i understand the whole guns don't kill people, people kill people line, but lets be honest here, guns were designed to kill. it was their sole purpose of being made. to kill. that's it. so why are people lobbying so hard to keep things that were made specifically to kill, circulating in a world where people are able to get their hands on them?

shit don't make no sense to me.

and riddle me this, if this man did have a history of mental illness, why was there ever a gun in the house?

Because his mother exercised poor judgement or maybe his mental illness never proved a problem before. Again millioms of people with mental illness yet these cases are as rare as getting hit by lightning. Rarified incidents dont really make a case for not owning guns and where do we stop. More regulation on what we watch and read to prevent violence from ever reaching people. Maybe a puritan approach to life where we say nothing thats out of line with the bible? I know too many responsible gun owners to know that for a FACT its not guns. Crazy always finds away.

i get what you are tryi ng to say.
here is the thing...everyone says its for defense. OK cool but why do you need a sniper rifle and an assault rifle..those are for the military. yeah then the next statement would be if some one breaks in the house ..blah blah blah.

most break-ins are for the assets (tvs and jewelry) not you. if a gun fight breaks out the robber(s) are leaving....it will not last for more than 30 seconds. if it lasts for over that...then they are there for business and that business is that they are there to kill you.

    Too many too young.

Is it really necessary for gun owners rights to be put above the safety of children?

    Yes, it's a constitutional right.
And advocates will say "in case we need to defend ourselves from government".
    Yeah ok, fine.
When was it last used in that manner?

Meanwhile, people DIE everyday so Americans can continue to have guns as an inherent right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I don't think anyone is calling for the guns to be taken away. Banning it won't work either.
But it's a huge problem that America is facing.

And none are to eager to solve it.

It's all fine and well that we want to say..he had a mental illness.
Hundreds of thousands of people have mental illness and none of them have murdered with assault weapons.

Violent movies and video games? Has anyone here ever seen a Japanese horror movie? They make me sick and I love watching horror movies.
No one in the UK plays grand theft auto?
    Somehow, I seriously doubt that.

Whats your solution. Btw alcohol has been the cause for far child deaths than guns bur no one is banning that

    Lesse..

My solution is...I don't own a gun. And if I'm ever in a situation that would call for one and I don't have one..then I guess it will be like all those other times when I was in a situation and needed something and didn't have it. Yeah, sure, I might end up dead but that is a much smaller price to pay than knowing I was the owner of the gun(s) used to kill children and forever change the lives of the parents who lost those children. I'm sure the mother of this child killer had those guns (just in case!) she ever needed them.
To bad she ended up dead (and many others besides) with the ammo they carried.

Alcohol, while not the best thing ever, is not distilled for the sole purpose of killing people.

Rest In Peace to all these victims indeed, truly sad beyond words that in such an environment like an elementary school this should happen.

These are the incidents we hear about but there are many incidents that take place every day that we don't hear about.

I just finished watching the news and they signed off talking abut "4 shot overnight in Chicago" knowing what I know about the violence rate in Chicago it was like nothing. Troubling indeed to feel that way.

There was this shooting early this morning at an Alabama Hospital http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...shooting-wounded-gunman-killed_n_2307505.html

2 dead from a shooting at a Las Vegas strip hotel last night

How long can we overlook the reality and not admit we live in a nation of violence and the ability to access guns so easily facilitates those who want to take out as many as they can before they depart this earth, whatever their twisted reasons.

One is correct that the majority of gun owners are disciplined, principled and responsible law abiding citizens.

The problem with guns is it is designed for efficient and expedient killing and can take out many with just one deranged individual on the loose.

So it only takes one person to cause utter chaos and carnage as history attests in these school shootings and other public attacks like in Aurora and the Sikh temple in Wisconsin.

Its crazy man. You never know when some deranged nut or agenda driven sociopath could let loose on the public with his stash of weapons collected.

I am a kindergarten teacher, and live about 90mins from that school. Although we are trained in "active shooter" and go through drills a lot, that could have easily been me. I honestly think the gun makers need to make a sensor on the gun so only the rightful owner can shoot it.

    So sad!

I'm a kinder assistant over her in Australia and have no idea what active shooter training is. All the training we have is in fire evacuation, first aid and epipen use

If they trly do intend to picket, and may the suffer a plague unknown to men if they do, there is a movement in that area for people who live nearby to form a human shield between the victims, families and those mourning this and the people who make up this...this vile, evil hate group.

Their main goal is income (they sue after protests where they are attacked or denied the ability to picket) but they also thrive on the media coverage.

Incidentally in regards to this group...
There is a petition that is asking for this "church" to be listed as a hate group and be added in the normal fashion to the FBI and other monitoring groups.

I'm 99.9% sure that we never will, the kinder I work at would be absolutely fucked if anything like that ever happened, simple lock on the front door and you're straight in...or just walk round the back and there's no lock, straight in. It's how a kindergarten is supposed to be. Open and still safe
