Yer never too old to start!

93-Year-Old Bodybuilder Is A Medical Marvel

Dr. Charles Eugster, a 93-year-old British bodybuilder, did not begin weightlifting six years ago as a way to stay in shape or to occupy his time. No, Eugster had a more, shall we say, ambitious rationale.

"The idea is to turn the heads of the sexy young 70-year-old girls on the beach," Eugster told BBC News. :smt061

After an athletic youth in which he was a competitive rower, Eugster lost his sturdy physique during 30 years as a dentist. In his late 80s, he noticed the complexion of his body had changed, and he wasn't happy about it.

"I'm extremely vain," Eugster said. "I noticed I was getting fat."

So for the past six years, Eugster's been hitting the gym three or four times a week, even working with a former Mr. Universe as a trainer.

At a recent competition he did 57 dips, 61-chin-ups and even pulled off 48 abdominal crunches in 45 seconds.

If Eugster's routine sounds extremely impressive, that's because he's a human anomaly. Most seniors in their 90s are advised to avoid lifting weights and doing other strenuous forms of activity.

"[Eugster] is unusual and there is a small minority of the population that can undertake that sort of vigorous activity into their 90s, but that's not true of most of us," said Steve Iliffe, a professor of primary care for older people at University College London. "Within reason it is never too late to start exercising, but you do have to remember there is a difference between exercise and physical activity."

Eugster said that bodybuilding at an older age is like exchanging an old car for a new one. The better shape the car is in, the easier it will be to trade it in.

"If you have taken care of your old car, it won't cost you so much," Eugster said. "But if you have neglected your car, it's going to cost you a lot."

If this doesn't bring tears to your eyes then your heart isn't beating. Amidst all the negative here a feel good piece for the day. Fairness and sportsmanship.

my newest director is around 56-58 and is just as built as I am. Seeing older guys staying big and into working out makes me feel better about aging. He really looks like he is in his early 40s. I know black doesn't crack but taking care of yourself wipes those years off you.:smt025

DAMN!!! Great for an old guy.
But I have also seen what happens to those who stop working out.
Be it from injury or whatever.... they look terrible.

Some of these female athletes are crushing it, gotta respect it. Only thing is all the ones I see on youtube are white. A little weird to me. Same thing with crossfit in general the vast majority are white. I wonder if the membership fees are what keep minorities out.

    maybe

or maybe the fact that women in general think BM just love their thick women

why join a crossfit gym or workout if they're already aesthetically appealing just by being meaty?

WW on the other hand...many i know assume that WM prefer their women small, and arent into the whole thick craze

BW? a BW will gladly parade around that donkey ass, belly fat and thick legs because she knows brothas go nuts over shit like that

I don't think most white chicks do it for guys. A lot of them look more bulky than fit,

    just sayin

the whole idea of working out period just seem lost on lots of people

I haven't been to the gyms around where I work (there's quite a few in close proximity), but when I used to actually go to gyms, i never seen BW around

hell i think blacks in general are more likely to be overweight/obese

    bad eating habits, etc etc

i think its more because in urban areas blacks and hispanics represent the poverty stricken class who can't afford nor have the time to prepare healthier meals. Black and hispanic are always at the gym in my area, but I think diet is where we as a people fuck up the most. I agree though very few black women are at the gym, but I think its more out of feeling embarassed than thinking they are hot as is

I make sure I do at least an hour 3 times a week on my own and me and my girl do workouts together on Saturday but nutrition is holding me back big time. I need to find a way to make sure I always have good food around because my biggest problem is coming home from work hungry I mess with that drive thru at least twice a week and my sleep ain't that great.
