Who are you spending it with? Are you cooking? Helping? Volunteering at a food shelter? Spending it alone...?
Do you love it or hate it? :freehug:

Spending the holiday with my son, two of my girlfriends and their grown kids. My daughter has to work, and the baby is with her dad and his family. I'm making the mac and cheese and collards and bringing vino.

I am seeing my daughter and granddaughter Sunday and will cook the whole turkey spread then.

For 5 yrs now, my BFF has insisted we are going to volunteer at a shelter and not have a dinner....
    but we never do.
So I'm going to her house tomorrow, but I don't want to be bothered, tbh. She & family won't hear of it though, so I will end up making a dish of food here to take to add to the dinner.

    * I forgot to ask..Got any wild stories to tell? :D

I was reading an article that lamented "How Retailers stole Thanksgiving." about how many of the major stores now will be opening up early at 9pm on T/G night!

    Gotta luv 'Cyber Monday'.

I once went to the Movies with my (then) husband. Uh, never gonna do that again... Chaos.

This year the wife and son will spend our Thanksgiving at home. Just ourselves. This will be the first time in five years that we will be alone as a family. I will do most of the cooking and we will enjoy watching movies at home in our theater room.

Fuck Thanksgiving and the Turkey that flew in.
Fuck that made up bullshit ass Holiday, celebrating the genocide of Natives!!!

My plan is to work & make the Deniro.

I give Thanx to the Lord Almighty when I wake up every single morning, breath fresh air, sit in my brand new German car and drive to work. I am Thankful every day but not to this made up white man holiday.

Well...this is my 2nd year as a single mom at thanksgiving. I am so thankful the kids dad and I have become friends and we all come together as a family during the holidays. This year, we have all been invited to his aunt & uncle's house. We have our cousins coming up from va beach and will have 3 little ones and 4 bigger ones to hang out together. This is also likely the last year my oldest son will get to share with us, because he will likely be stationed elsewhere by this time, next year. We will cross that bridge when we get there...

I already made apple pie and cupcakes tonight in the shop. I am making mac n cheese in the morning :)

I was reading an article on Huff Post about how we are taught that bs in HS about how the Wompanoag tribe was the tribe that came forward when the first pilgrims got here to help them survive the first new england winter for which they were unprepared.

    Yeah, actually...

What really happened was there was a band of heavily armed hunters who left Massachusets and went to Conneticut and sluaghtered 700 Men, women, and children.
When they got back to Mass...the governer gave "thanks" for their safe return home. And thus "thanksgiving" was born.

    Enjoy your turkey.

I'll be eating turkey too because I have to put in appearances before I leave.
But the whole time I will be playing Native American chants and saying prayers and dedicating merit to the thousands upon thousands of Americans who lost their lives because we white people are greedy and well, just plain mean.

    Nada, spending it alone.

Thanksgiving bears no relevance for me as I am European and didnt grow up w it.

I usually spend it w other "orphan" friends as we call it. Take turns each year and do a pot luck but this year I just want to be alone. I have not had a day off work for a month and been traveling extensively for work. As DWed said, a hotel-room, rental car and being able to expense meals is not what it sounds like.
I just want to be useless, read books, charge my batteries and do some chores that have been neglected.

I'm with my son until Sunday night and we've been having fun together since the plane landed. Had lunch, went to catch Wreck-It Ralph, he beat me wrestling, watched Animal Planet and now he's next to me, fast asleep. LOL. Tomorrow, tennis in the morning and turkey and the trimmings in the afternoon with family. Having a blast! I wish everyone here at wwbm.com all the best during the holidays!

Its nice sometimes to just be able to focus on "you".
I did a 23h trip to Philly, a 36h trip to Boston, another 36h trip to chicago for internal work travel and on top of that a 3 day trip to Denver, another to Phoenix and Tucson and 4 conferences that takes place during the weekend (because Oncologists cant be away from work during the week) and on top of that doing all my "year end" review duties. I'm spent. I also have a herniated disc that wont let me sleep a full night so yes, I do look forward to being useless. WOOOHOOOO!.

Ok, enough whining from me. Tell me Beasty, how hos work been?

After two straight months of 70-80 hour work weeks here in Va, I end up in keywest again for 4 weeks of work there, the good thing about it was my work schedule was so much easier there but I did not party like I usually do when I go out of town. Was too busy spending ALL of my free time in the gym trying to make up for slacking off when work got hectic in VA. I was certainly missing the comfort of my own bed and the luxuary of having a stove vs eating out or heating microwave meals the whole time. So I do know what you mean by having time to focus on yourself, and the expense account and hotel rooms are nice sometimes but there is no place like home. Been back home for a little over a week now and loving the down time, don't go back to work till monday.
