Why aren't there more black/white couples in movies and tv?

As someone who can't get women or dates myself, I usually am not into dating shows. However I appreciate the recs for shows with IR. Plus I will admit these shows are intriguing because one has something new: celebrities dating normal people.

hmm, unfortunately that's not entirely true. The only one he truly bangs outside of his girlfriend whose black is occasionally his ex wife, whose hot but also a psychopath, they definitely have a love-hate relationship. There was only two other girls he did, one was before he had the gf on episode 2 I want to say. And the other one was the second before last episode. Most of his romance was with the BW. So he really only banged 4 people out of all the episodes, maybe 5 if kristen and don actually did something. But we won't know about that until next season.

Still, his main and primary squeeze was a black chick so. But they broke up now. I remember when the season first started, there was 2 threads on imdb basically begging for don and kristen to not sleep together, my god the insecurity of some of these people are ridiculous.

 

He banged a client's wife in one episode. I said almost every episode. The show is unprecedented and a yardstick on other TV shows of brothers swirling.

 

I see alot of IR in movies/shows/and some commercials. What irritates me is the lack of diversity in families. Tired of seeing white folks with only white children and black folks with black and mixed race children. Show a white man or woman with their mixed race child, for crying out loud.

 

Movies with IR couples (BM & WW) were race wasn't the theme.

That was the second episode I was talking about, I also saw every episode, and over all, he really only banged from what we seen, two caucasian chicks, and one black chick. That's pretty much it, seeing as the kristen one we still don't know yet.

Better than a lot of shows, by far, but still far from him doing nonstop swirling. If you want to see non-stop swirling, check out the first episode of common law with michael ealy, now that's some swirling and that was only the first episode.

IMO, the best current portrayal of IR on TV is the one on "Happy Endings". They have excellent chemistry, race is not the focus, but they don't completely ignore it either (in other words, it's not like a white actor could play his role) and the wife (Eliza Coupe) is very attractive. And on top of that, it is a good show.

I must say that I have noticed it a little more on TV these days. If a show features single white women, there is a pretty strong chance that at some point one of them will date a black guy at some point. (two of the four women on Sex and the City dated black men at different points)

As much as the media recently complained about HBO's 'Girls' lack of diversity (I haven't seen it) I would expect that there will almost certainly be an episode or more with 'swirling' in it at some point. And I expect for there to be 'swirling' on Men at Work at some point by the black character - if not very often.

As I think about it, the question is which shows do NOT have an IR in it - even for a single episode? (Those that get canceled after one season don't count) Even dramas like House and Private Practice have had IR in it.

The next ceiling to break (again IMO) is the "quota problem". What I mean by that is that once you have one IR couple, you certainly can't have another. Since Happy Endings has one IR, the other two women in the show will almost certainly exclusively date white men throughout the show. (I hope they surprise me).

At this point, it would be nearly impossible for TWO couples to be in IR without race being the central issue.

The other issue is that black produced movies seem to avoid IR with BM/WW like the plague. There was only one white woman to appear in 'Think like a Man' - and she was a very minor character - yet they had a WM/BW couple (that was boring btw) in the movie. I doubt very seriously they would have ever even considered reversing that. And correct me if I am wrong, but has a Tyler Perry movie ever portrayed a BM/WM IR in it? I don't like TP movies, so I wouldn't know other than seeing clips. But I do know that he has portrayed WM/BW a couple of times.

good news?

I've got some (kinda) good news for you on that front, Darkseid. They filmed an episode in which the character Penny starts dating Lance Briggs from the Chicago Bears. I don't think it's serious, but he's described as her love interest. The episode was supposed to air this past season, but they cut the season short by one episode to premier "Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23."

I think the episode is airing in the UK this Thursday, but I have no idea when or if it'll air in the US.

Looking forward to seeing that. That show is cutting edge and that is why I held out hope that they would surprise me. Hopefully they will add it to the next season.

That show sucks btw. Although Suburgatory is a pretty good show (also an IR in that show as well)

 

Thanks Dark Knight I knew I was not seeing things. Thump,I mentioned a lot of IR flicks including The Caveman's Valentine,some of flicks of Mario Van Peebles,In My Counrty,and many more.

 

The entertainment industry has a problem with women of ALL races being love interest of black men(even black women.). They will create very little of it as possible and it will remain in the back of the story of the t.v. show or movie most of the time. Zoe Saldana ever since she made it "BIG" havent seen many of her love interest being black.

Target,you are worthy of your name. MW,that is messed up that Hollywood is still afraid of the Black man's sexual prowness to women of any color including their own. The best example was that Steve Harvey flick of one of the WM has a Black girlfriend. There has not been a flick of a group of WM with one Black friend who dates a WW.
