To say Tupac and Biggie absolutely sucks isn't something a fan of hip hop music would say. I'm not a fan of Pac but I could never say he sucks with a straight face but like you explained hip hop really isn't your thing so I get it.

 

I'm sort of aware of that. I would assume that maybe those who are too much against mainstream hip-hop would be willing to say that those two are overrated. Maybe it's just me.

 

Interesting perspective...I immensely enjoy their music and, for me, much of it still sounds fresh even today. Tupac was widely regarded as a multi-talented artist, able to express himself in music or on the screen. He was someone whose music provided relevance in combination with great tracks. Alternately, Biggie's voice, delivery and in your face banging beats, created incredible dance music.

I realize that reasonable minds might not agree on the issue of talent, but the success of those two artists is undeniable. Artists and fans alike continue to recognize their ground breaking accomplishments and contributions to the art form.

 

I'm definitely cognizant of all that. Given that my older brother and the environment I was in...pretty much everyone (minus my parents) took a strong interest in Tupac and Biggie. I grew up around that bit of interest. But I never really absorbed any of that myself. Weird as it may seem, my own world consisted of generally video games and VG music. As I grew older, geared towards classical and world music. And then...we also have choir music and that pretty much expanded my interests.

 

As someone who has a wide range of musical tastes, I certainly understand. I've interests in most musical forms, as I'm moved by some aspects of every musical genre. Classical, Gregorian chant, African, Latin, Rap/Hip Hop, Chamber music, Dance Hall, Trance, Indigenous Australian, Jazz, Blues, Country, R&B, Pop, Country, Qawwali, Indian Trance. All of those are musical genres I appreciate, though I listen to more.

 

I definitely fancy Gregorian Chants. I think the common ground of my main tastes in music would be in New Age and Tranquility. World aspects such as Celtic music sprinkled itself into my listening tastes gradually. Soothing styles really keep me complacent and I can think much better.

Btw... people in new york expressed a sentiment about being mad that californians in general didn't seem to care too much about 911... and to some degree I would have to concur with their findings.. we live in our own world here and generally neighbors don't even speak to each other.. so you can imagine after the initial 911 situation took place... it was a things back to normal mentality here.
